    F hose preplacement DIY

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Please send me a link for a DIY for the F hose. Bought an 034 hose. I took off the Y pipe and looks simple, but would like to see if there is a link to a DIY for back up.. Thanks in advance.

    Re: F hose preplacement DIY

I do all my own work. In this case I watched Mike from VAST do it...was happy to pay him, looks to be a total PITA.

Small hands, good dexterity, and a lot of patience.

Took 45+ minutes and he's done it a bunch of times.

    Re: F hose preplacement DIY

It is simple and straight forward. I installed new DVs at the same time, and having the one above the F-hose out gave me a lot more room. I have smaller hands, so maybe that helped me.

I didn't follow a procedure. There are three clamps. I pulled them off, pulled the f-hose, put hose clamps on the new f-hose and put it in place, tighten hose clamps. I had pulled the DV first, which should give you more room to work in there.

    Re: F hose preplacement DIY

Doing the Samco TBB and Fhose was the first thing I ever did with this car. It is a bit of a bitch, but just be patient. You have to pull on the two hoses that the Fhose attaches to after you remove the stock one.

That gives you enough slack to re-attach the two hoses from the Fhose.

    Re: F hose preplacement DIY

Or you can completely delet the f Hose... Cap your spider hose off and connect the manifold straight to the other hose that goes to the left. Thats what I did and its working great.

    Re: F hose preplacement DIY

So you can just completely bypass the F-hose without having to run a catch can?

I'd like to do this mod, the whole nine yards, catch can and all. I'm not sure if my spider hose is leaking, boost seems ok.

Is this worth it? I already have a samco F-hose..

    Re: F hose preplacement DIY

yup, I beleive it was Jared at stasis that walked me trough it when I did it.. I dont remember now. But yeah, basically the F hose connects 3 things together: The intake manifold, the vacum line that goes to the left of the F hose, and the Vacum only line thats routed underneath the intake manifold and that plugs into the spider hose. This last line has a checkvalve in it that automatically closes when pressure is present in the manifold.

So this is how you bypass the F hose:

    1. Take F hose out
    2. Take a sharp razor blade and carefully put a slit on the hose thats on the passenger side of the spider hose. This will place a crack in it so that it can be slid off the spider hose manifold.
    3. Take away plastic hose thats routed under intake manifold.
    4. Plug spider hose connection with a hose and a bolt and a clamp.... dont use those rubber vacum plugs they sell at napa.. they will crack as they are not neoprene rubber.
    5. Connect intake manifold nipple to the hose that is on the left with a section of hose.
    6. Youre done.. you have just bypassed another useless audi plumbing nightmare.

Awesome man, thanks. I'm gonna do it tomorrow.

There's no way to bypass or simplify that crazy spider hose is there? I assume a catch can is needed for that?

How much of a pain in the ass is this by the way? I already ruined the future of my neighbors' kids by cursing so much that I had to start cursing in Italian from now on so they don't understand.

I don't seem to be having any trouble with the with my Samco Fhose. Do you have a picture of which line to connect where with the Fdelete?

Are the clamps on the F hose 'one time use' clamps or can i reuse them. If not can i just use those small reuseable ones from a local hardware store?

Same question goes for the TBB and DV's?

Depends on if they have been replaced or not. You can easily look and see what kind of clamps are on there. If you get worm gear clamps, you may want to get the good ones that are smooth on the inside so they don't eat into the rubber or silicone on the replacement parts.

Here is the thread where I posted a picture of the F hose delete. This is not my setup but it shows how it can be done. Scroll to post 4.

Bumping this thread up, based on visuals I think my F hose has seen better days. There's a line that is going to it that runs under the passenger side turbo inlet and y pipe by the F hose that has the same silly putty crap that the PO put on the pancake valve to y pipe fitting so i want to replace all that. Here are my two options:

    1. Is it worth just switching everything out to a later style intake manifold, y pipe, and PCV system?

    2. Or should I just replace the F hose and the line that's going to it and get a new PCV system but retain the early style manifold and all that?

Edit, here's a depiction of what hose I'm talking about leading to the F hose.

Thinking I'll just bite the bullet and get an updated spider hose assembly, later style y pipe and intake manifold. I'm not missing anything right? Anything to replace or take care of while I'm in there? I know I need to get intake manifold gaskets too. I'll do those when I swap my injectors to run E85.

If your spider hose is in good condition just do the f-hose delete. Save your money and eventually do a proper functioning air/oil separator to replace the whole crank case breather system.

Just order some silicone tubing and make your own spider hose. Or use heater hose.

I have no idea if all the check valves and what not are functioning properly, that's the issue. I guess it would be temporary to do anything besides replace the entire spider hose, there's a lot of oil condensation on my F hose.

    This link is the process?

This reuses the stock check valves right? Only issue is I'm not sure what condition those are in.

I would definitely check out the 034 Motorsport Spider Hose, to get it to fit you need to remove the SAI pump and valves but thats useless anyways. Ive been through 3 different spider set ups and found that this works best for me. Hope it helps!
