    So it finally happened...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After two almost two years of careful driving, I finally curbed my front right rim on a curb covered in leaves.

Its not all that bad and to tell the truth was probably a blessing in disguise because of some pitting in the clear coat from improper storage last winter on all four wheels.

How hard of a DIY is it to refinish machined lips? I was thinking potentially brushing them or polishing them and then throwing some clear over the top and potentially painting the centers, and would like to know how hard it is to do the lips since I know there's plenty of guides on painting. Lets hear some ideas!

    Here's a picture for reference,

Yes I know they are just ADR's but I have recently moved out of the parents home and gotten my own place, leaving very little money mods.

Also, keep in mind, that I am not apposed to painting the lips.

I love the stasis. There amazing.

As for the refinishing will i be able to replicate the grooves from the machining, or should I just go over them all and get them all smooth. Then possibly brush or polish them and then do clear?

It sits a little bit lower now, that picture was from day one. 4 months later its probably about a half inch lower all the way around.

Depending on how bad the damage is you might be able to get away with sanding the wheels and then repainting them yourself.

Your car would look awesome with painted lowers. You already have the perfect drop. I don't show my car so the minor curbage is just something I deal with until I can afford some nice wheels, but I would be truly jealous if you had painted lowers.

Maybe someday, but I can't afford it now. For now I don't mind them unpainted, I like the contrast.
