a buddy of mine has brought a car that has been sitting for some time. After we started it it made some noise it sounds like the lifters are clicking. We changed the oil and also the timming belt at the same time. He doesn't get any check engine or anything like that and the car sounds like a desiel. What do you think it could be?? any inpput could be helpful...

    could be a camshaft adjuster.
this is what was clicking after i pulled my passenger head off. dumped some seafoam in and put some mystery oil and it unstuck itself.

I got similar the other day. Had altered my fueling to be 5 % leaner, and made a few first gear runs to see if it'd show pending misfires or detonation. None noted. Got up next day on a cold morning, and it was sounding like a rod knock or similar. It too faded out at speed. After warmup, it was fine.

My car is as much of a complete bitch when she's cold, as my wife can be when she's mad. Both probably have a right to be that way. Stage 3 makes the S rich, and the wife poor. Not good combo!

its a hydraulic piston which puts tension on the cam gear chain. idk how you'd test it but if youre not getting a good amount of oil on the piston it will tick. sometimes youre just low on oil, or the viscosity is too thin. check yoru levels
