    My o2 sensor issue fixed(UPDATE)

So i went to napa auto parts today to get a bosch 02 sensor(bank 1). Ended up paying $75.00 without the connector because i can just reuse the old one. When i got home i had trouble unscrewing the sensor, i had to torch it to get the bolt out. When i finally did, the thread was all stripped and had white powder all around it as well as in the hole. Does the white powder mean anything? Anyways i go to install the new one, when i come to find out it only has 4 wires instead of 5 the one the car had. So i go back to napa and they had a hard time figuring out why all their 2001 audi a4 sensors had 4 wires. I told him to look at other years, and it comes out that my o2 sensor is actually a 2002 a4 sensor by the bosch part number. How is that? I think their computer data is all screwed up. Anyways the part is on its way, it will be here tommorow, in the meanwhile i plugged the hole in the cat with a bolt till tommorow. Can i drive like that? All this so i can pass smog, what a day

    Re: My sensor issue continues..

Yes the car will run, it's not exactly safe to romp on it though.

That's why I by my parts from vw. Audi wanted $252, the parts store wanted $140 and vw wanted $140 with my discount at all the places. I didn't want to splice anything in.

When you have the maf unplugged it runs in a preset program, so it should be.

got the 02 sensor today( Before the catalyctic), for $140. Put it on, and oh man what a difference! Car feels new! Now i can get smog check done and renew my registration! For those who need this front sensor replaced for the AWM engine code ONLY, the factory part number is 06B 906 265D or the actual Bosch number BSH074933(for the rear sensor, after the catalyst, the number is BSH074931)!

Why did you replace it? Bad mpg, cel or power loss?
