burning smell and smoke

I dropped my girlfriend off this morning, she lives 5minutes away, and on the way back i noticed a drop in power. i get home and look under the hood and there is smoke and a burning smell coming from the underside of the cat. i saw nothing dripping, or leaking or anything out of place. what do you guys think it is?? Also aobut 60%ish of the time under hard acceleration i get a weird rattling sound, i think from the cat. the same noise is present at cold start ups too any relation?

Its a 2003 a4 with diode/mbc set to 16psi

i am no professional in cars but last time when my turbo went, similar things happened

check the exhaust mounts under the car, could be some loose comb inside the cat i guess....... none of that explains smoke though.

coolant, or ur cat is clogged.

i had a rear coolant flange leak so i recently had a coolant flush. I dont know about the cat..
