    RS4 widebody vs S4 question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This is pretty random, but does anyone know how much wider the RS4 fenders and quarter panels are compared to S4 fenders/quarter panels?

Also, do the wheels hubs sit in the same relative position to the rest of the car? So, would the same wheels on an S4 and an RS4 be in the same position relative to the frame, independent of the fenders/quarter panels?

I have no idea if that makes any sense.

Re: RS4 widebody vs S4 question

It makes sense but I have no clue "how much" wider the RS4 is. Good question.

However I do believe the wheels are in the same position relative to the frame.

I looked on AudiUSA site before I bought the S4 and it was around 1" on each side...

I'm guessing they're the same. That's why the OEM RS4 19's have a much lower offset to compensate for the wider fenders.

Re: RS4 widebody vs S4 question

Someone in B7 A4 just decided they are doing full widebody conversion this december / january - thread subscribed.

there are some options, somone posted in a link - you can buy the OEM RS4 fenders and stuff. But I think he's going custom carbon fenders to go wider.

Re: RS4 widebody vs S4 question

I have no idea on either question but can contribute this:

S4 wheels are 8" ET43 and RS4 wheels are 9" ET29 which means that the outer position of the wheels/tires on the RS4 extend an extra 27mm beyond the position of the S4 wheels/tires provided that the hubs of both cars are in the same relative position. If you also assume that the position of the wheel/tire is the same relative to the wheel arches on both cars, then the RS4 just might be 27mm wider per side, or roughly 1".

Thanks for all of the replies. I was guessing what most have said and it's nice to see I'm not an idiot.

Yea, I saw that thread. I was curious about the OEM RS4 parts only. Custom widebody can look good and be cheaper, but I don't like the uncertainty involved.

I would cream my pants if someone did a widebody conversion for the B6. I love the nose of the B6. I can only imagine it with the stance of the RS4.

The whole 9-piece kit for $1300? No chance of me doing that. Even though it says OEM, it's not.

I guess they also don't realize that you have to replace the rear door skins to fit the quarter panel arches. I bet they've never even sold a full kit.

Re: RS4 widebody vs S4 question

yeah I was just joking about the conversion. I'm just saying the things an RS4 has that i'm jealous of is the widebody and the engine. With a S/C on the S4, the engine jealousy goes away, and then if the S4 had an RS4 widebody, I'd never feel like I needed an RS4 again. haha

but yeah, that was a B5. People do those conversions all the time.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier today and I would have measured!!! We had an RS4 and an S4 parked next to eachother at our GTG in Austin!!

The difference is probably 1-2" on each side! LOOKS SOOOOO NICE. like the C5 A6 4.2 vs 2.7tt

    cheers
