cold weather problems with my A6

I have an 96 audi a6. Since the cold weather has started up, my engine has been running horribly. When it first starts up, there is barely if any throttle response, and the engine sounds like it is skipping until it warms up.

I have a corvette that sounded and ran close to what my audi is doing, but it needed a coil pack. I know it is not a coil pack, because since our weather has warmed up in the last few days (to about 65) the car runs like it is brand new.

My only thoughts so far is maybe something with the air intake, thottle body, or a map sensor

    Any thoughts?

Could be a few things like coil packs, plugs, clogged throttle body, vacum leak. I would suspect the plugs and coil packs though. Take out a few spark plugs and see what they look like.

probably shouldn't be revving it much when it just starts, but when its cold the ecu goes into a fuel enrichmnt mode, much like a manual choke until the engine warms up.

iirc older A6s (at least older C5) have throttle body issues in cold (freezing) weather
~ there was even a recall for it

You could have bad sparkplug wires. You can check them with an ohm meter. Sometimes they get damaged by pulling them off of the sparkplugs the wrong way, by the wire. There are tools available for pulling on the boots. Also, if you use silicon dielectric grease on the boots, they won't get stuck to the plugs.
You could also have a plugged fuel filter. You could have water in your fuel, so try putting fuel deicer in your gas tank.
