    HID Fogs.. Quick question.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Going with the 3000k Pure golden yellow setup for my fogs but need to know what ballasts are the friendliest with Audi computers. I am gettig the setup from HIDConcept.com but only need the ballasts. I will have the Philips 3000k bulbs..

Im assuming either the Matsushita or Philips?

    any other suggestions.

    Thanks guys.

I'm sure vvme and other aftermarket ones are fine. I'm running Xentec HID Kit on my headlights, but regardless, not getting an error.

    Re: HID Fogs.. Quick question.

Well Phillips would cost you prolly x3 times more than lets say vvme. But Phillips is a very well known brand though.
that's not the ballast, that's the way you gonna connect the whole setup.
    There was a DIY somewhere.

cool. i didnt want to order the wrong part and then have to waste money on return shipping haha. Where would you guys mount the ballasts down there? I havent really taken a look at where to place it yet but was wondering if anyone had any ideas from experience.

the kit on vvme says that it includes 2 ballasts (and it pictures them). You need ballasts to power hid lights.

hmm...no offense, but if you're gonna get yellow fogs why not just get standard bulbs instead of hid?

    Re: HID Fogs.. Quick question.

exactly, better light output, especially up here in rainy washington where all you can see are the hash marks seperating the lanes when there is a downpour!

Euroaleksey what are you referring to when you say that its only a rumor? you dont have ballasts to power ur hid bulbs? im confused =S

I'm sure vvme and other aftermarket ones are fine. I'm running Xentec HID Kit on my headlights, but regardless, not getting an error.
headlights and foglights arent the same thing sorry to say, when it comes to your fog lights your battery doesnt send enough power to keep the HID fogs on once you turn them on thats why alot of ppl are reporting that their fog lights wont stay on for more then 5 secs UNLESS you wire a relay or go with resistors.. im just not familiar with that whole process... either way, my mainstream question here concerns ANYBODY out there running an hid fog setup with ballasts that dont require any other necessary wiring BESIDES VVME's direct plug n play kit. which i really havent looked into yet.

    thanks fellas

actually hid lights work less effective in a rain conditions

    Russian joke i guess :)))
P.S. i do have vvme for my headlights and fogs. And vvme h11 kit is not direct plug and play, needs a BIT of modification.... there is a GOOD DIY

    Re: HID Fogs.. Quick question.

ah ny okay den spaseba =] ill look into that.. since im already runnin a setup from vvme for my headlights.

i just had to replace my ballast cuz im sure it got water into it.

anybody out there mounting there ballasts heres a good tip: electric tape the shit out of it to prevent water damage.

just read a post about it and it makes perfect sense.

Sorry no pics. You don't want the 3k kit in your Headlights. I put 5k in the headlights which actually looks yellower than my old dying 4300k bulbs.

if you've ever driven in real dense fog, you'll know that you actually dont want to much light outpout. it just turns everything into a haze and further decreases visibility...

i run vvme both headlights and fogs. no probs so far, 6k both

IMO hid fogs are more for the look than functionality

Read my post a bit above this one... :))) I just answered on his question WHY HID... and before that when i mentioned that hid is less visible in the rain... an fog!!!
Personally, i have my fogs on with my headlights all the time, i just like the look of it!!!
