It can be used just like a Garmin unit, but you can add an Ipod interface along with Bluetooth capabilities. It's pretty sick.......

nice yeah, i just came across a nice headunit thats double din. i want something in there and out of the way. i have tom tom and im surprised he (tomtom) hasnt gotten thrown out of my window yet. it takes you the most OUT of the way routes ever.

I have the AVIC D3, i got my step mom the homie hookup on the new AVIC F700BT.....and right now i would say that my D3 is way better. The F-series came out about 6 months ago, which is about a year premature of when it should have came out....Pioneer is having a bunch of software issues with it. There have been 2 major software updates, but there is still problems with ipod connectivity and bluetooth connectivity (especially with blackberrys). Pioneer is a great company and they will fix the software issues, but the product came out before it was ready for market.

On the plus side, the screen is phenomenal, and if it is like the F700 the navigation runs off of the SD card slot, iirc, which leaves the cd slot open for music...On my d3 if i get a new cd i better know where im going because outside of memory mode there will be no navigation.

So in summation having seen the new F-series out of the big box stores, i would maybe give it some time until they fix the software, unless you like me and want it now (the updates are free from pioneer website). If you want to read more on it www.AVIC411.com is the AZ of the Pioneer Avic World

thanks a lot for the information. yeah i found a nice kenwood unit. i just dont want to get the old avicd3 because EVERYone and their mother got it for this car. its awesome, but i want to try something else. i read a similar review to what you just said on crutchfield about a bunch of bugs it has.

i have the f700bt and have 0 problems with it .. using a 80 gig ipod classic and BT connection with a 1st gen iphone.

the only issues are small software quirks that aren't pioneer's fault. the new 2.0 FW fixed a lot of the launch issues.

the 500 isn't a replacement for your in car radio... the 700 and 900 is. make sure you know what you're getting into =)

Install is in a B5 a4 but with an 01 S4 center console swap so it's identical to S4. Should be done by the weekend.

going to be a while.. car is in the shop .. hopefully undergoing stg3- surgery. not sure yet.

it looks similar to the d3. if your dash trimming is still matte plastic... the F series will look better then the d3.

my dash trimming is piano black so i actually like how the d3 looked in my car. but i wouldn't sacrifice the BT and much better ipod interface

Get the Avic D3, me and my gf both have it and you wont be dissapointed. Also it looks most factory over the avic-z2 and z3 IMO

I've installed a few. You can pick up the 700bt at CC for right around 700 on sale. I like these a lot better than the d3's, nice features and a little easier to use.

I like that the kenwood's plastic surround isn't shiny like the new AVIC too. Decisions decisions. On a random note, I just bought my sub stage for my new setup in the S4 and got my dream subs! I'm stoked!

Yeah, the 900 and 90bt are, which would go well if you had piano black trim, otherwise it sticks out IMO.

The AVIC also has the smallest screen of them all. Anyone know if you can watch movies from your iPod on the Kenwood 5120 like you can on the 8220?

sounds sick man. i have the MTX Road thunder package lol, its like the cheap 300 dollar 2 12 inch subs but i couldnt be ANY happier. It is such a good buy... I do NOT need subs that make the music hard to hear lol these are awesome. also, yeah i love that kenwood im deff. going to go with that one

I just saw the Pioneer in person today and it's pretty sick. Can't compare it to the Kenwood though cause I haven't seen it in person.

I'm going to upgrade my mids and highs as well, so my substage won't necessarily swap the rest (though it sure could with 3000W and the subs I'm getting:))
