Re: explain are pistons the guy at my work says they are cut out of cast

Pistons are cast or forged. A cast piston is formed using molten aluminum into a mold which leaves the unit porous (hole pockets). A forged piston is formed by taking a piece of aluminum and dropping a one to two ton forged press unto it to increase the aluminum tensile strength. The molecules are closer together versus the cast unit. Lastly, the piston is machined nowadays on a CNC machine to cut the piston.

it took me a few seconds, but I figured it out... The "are" is retarded and misleading

    He meant to say

" The guy at my work says OUR pistons are cast, is this correct?"
