    Sub problem, please help.

View my sig. for my set up, I have the stock head unit and tapped out from the stock sub with a LOC. I took my system out the other day and when I put it back in I had a problem. I've been working on this for 3 days now. It sounds like the polarity on the subs are switched but that is not it. The subs are not loud and the amp goes into protection mode at mid volume. I have tried 2 different LOC's and get the same result. Does anyone know what the problem is? It's killing me not having my ear shattering bass,

you prob have a short somewhere or its grounding somewhere it shouldn't look over your wiring, make sure nothing crosses, especially power and ground cables, this is just a good rule when dealing with audio.

i think a LOC will not work because this car may have an internal amp....

I've used the same exact set up before an it worked fine. I took everything out and put everything ban in and it is still doing the same thing. Another thing that is weird is when I plug the stock sub speaker wire into the loc, it still plays with only the positive touching positive. The negative does not have to be connected and it plays and goes to the beat of the song. Now if disconnect the positive wire and plug the negative it still plays too! It did not use to be like this. It won't get loud and it sounds like the gain on the amp is all the way up but it isn't, and it goes into protection mid if I try to turn it up

do it the right way, and just tap the line out / remote turn on wires going to the stock amp. Using a LOC, while it may work, is not the best option.

One of my buddy's had a similar problem. Ended up being the bad fuse in the power wire up by the battery. Let us know.

where is the stock amp? Is it the wires running out of the back of the head unit? And how would you tap into the wires without using a line out converter? Are there RCA jacks on the stock amp?

trunk, right side, behind the side cover.

Some of the wires running out of the HU do go to the stock amp, but it's easier to tap them at the amp than at the HU.

You use wire taps, from radio shack or the like

No, which is why you use the above.

Plenty of people have done this, both here and on AW. Alternately, you can purchase an adapter which plugs into the HU and gives you RCA outputs as well as a remote turn on lead, but it cannot be used in conjunction with the stock amp (so you'd need to run the front/rear speakers off an aftermarket amp as well)

Ok you tap out from the amp but what kind of wire do u tap it with? Do you tap out with speaker wire or cut one end of RCA and wire it in? Can you give me more info on this.
