Get ready for 100 people saying coil packs... haha

Coil packs, and the self hardening engine mounts. The only way you'll know that one is if you VAG it.

Re: What has broken, worn out, failed on your S4?

    2005.5 B7 S4 CPO

I drive like a grandpa most of the time but sometimes, I'd like to flex the car's muscles here and there.

    MPG city: 10

Trunk lid not closing properly. Sometimes it will, sometimes it wont. - fixed under warranty.

Self leveling headlight (bi-Xenons) left light sometimes will not align and throw and error prompt. - fixed under warranty.

I paid $50 deductible for both repairs above.

Busted left brake light. Got it fixed by giving $10 to a mechanic at the stealership.

Aero wipers replaced a few days ago. $18/ wiper.

Getting ready for 55k maintenance in about 3 months from now.

2004 regular daily driver, maybe 17 to 18mpg. Only thing so far has been the wiper linkage breaking twice

Re: What has broken, worn out, failed on your S4?

Bought it CPO a 6 months ago. About 60k on the clock.

I drive aggressive, esp on the highway. Run the twisties pretty often. Get about 10-13 city, 18-19 highway.

    Window regulator front drivers (CPO)
Which led to the whole window switch panel burning out (CPO)
Window regulator front pass side (CPO)
Can't believe no one has mentioned the glove box yet (fixed myself)
Replaced plugs, air filter at 55k

    No coil packs yet. :)

    ~13MPG - unfortunately lot's of city time

So far only classic, notorious problems:

    - Trunk latch works sometimes/sometimes not (still an issue - any solutions?)
    - 2 driver side seat motors (warranty)

2005.5 B7 Audi S4 CPO... 29,500mi on the car avg MPG is like 17 for me...

P0455 code... Evap Gross Leak... Found a tear in a hose. Not covered under warranty, but dealer did it for free anyhow. I didn't even have to ask.

Trunk would take 4 or 5 tries to close, they replaces the latch, and all is well. This was warrantied.

Everything else seems ok for the time being...

Well the airbag light in my case was just for the passenger. It was a faulty sensor in the drivers seat not allowing the passenger seat to register. They had to replace the unit in the drivers side seat for me.

Do these seem like alot of problems to you guys. They seem like a ton to me. Thankfully mostly small stuff, but still, lots of stuff wrong.

Knock on wood, nothing wrong with mine yet. Just bough it used though wth 77K miles on it. Drive it slow most of the time, but do get on it occasionally. I get between 14-17 mpg in town depending on how much I baby the car.

Just had the 75K maintenance done.

Previous owner had a 2nd gear synchro fail and was replaced.
Previous owner had clutch fail and was replaced.

    .
    Yes and No.

Sure there are a lot of problems but it's comforting that these problems are some what normal for an Audi - electrical, trunk, clutch...unfortunately it comes with the territory of owning an S4. If I wanted something boring and reliable I would have bought a lexus or a corolla. Just my 2cents

Re: What has broken, worn out, failed on your S4?

I do have to say that compared to my 2000 B5 s4, this thing has lots of problems that IMHO should really not happen in a car this expensive...My B5 was totally reliable until i started messing with the tuning (of course all the resulting issues were my fault and not the fault of bad design) in the B6 however it seems to be just crappy components/ materials, like they took the cheap route to save a buck...How many times have we seen the case of the AC working perfectly one day and dead the next? Too many. Water in the headlights...Waay too many...I work on these cars for a couple dealerships near me doing radar detectors and I've been doing it since the B5/C5 days, and the build quality has definately gone down, not just in Audi, but in all the car manufacturers. I'm really starting to think they really want to build a car that wont last...Don't get me wrong, I still love Audi ( I've had 3 S4's ) I just think its sad thats all, I think they could do a better job..just my $.02

Please state the year of your S4 - 2004

How you drive it - Mixed (Some Granny, some Balls to the Wall)

    MPG city - 18-19 average

What has broken/why/how much to fix - Bought the car with 67k, now it has 74k - I replaced the Driver's front power window regulaor and clutch. The regulator was taken car of through my warranty.

The clutch failed after letting a friend take my car out for a "spin" FYI - Never let anyone drive your car. Parts and labor for the clutch, upgraded by Southbend with a new flywheel was about $1,500

What had to be replaced due to wear/when/how much - Plugs, Valve cover gaskets, head light leveling sensor were all done before I got the car. I just replaced the ar filter (K&N), cabin filter and fuel filter. The brake pad sesnor light just came on. So I will be putting brakes and tires on soon.

My brother owns a shop so I just pay for parts and very minimal labor. I know I'm lucky..

    14-16 , 17-18 if I take it easy but I bought an S4 so that’s rare
Passenger window regulator @ 38K normally would run $550 at the dealership with labor, but I have an aftermarket warranty so $100 deductible
the gauge cluster some times goes out, starts flickering after several short drives in humid weather (in socal almost never) very hard to reproduce, I was quoted $1200 at the dealership, but if I use my aftermarket warranty still $100 deductible

Why does anyone bother? Audi isnt going to do anything about it. They are the suck when it comes to issues out of warranty.
