I'm the one whose 2003 A4 3.0 quattro 6spd got totaled by the refrigerator on the highway. Anyway, I got my $ check back from insurance and surprisingly it came out to be pretty fair market value. I was thinking about throwing in some extra money and getting a 2004 M3 or a 2007 G35 sedan sport 6spd, but decided to be more practical and just try to get a new car without having to spend much extra $. I'm thinking about picking up a 2004 A4 1.8T quattro 6spd USP. It's the dolphin gray with black leather interior. It has 55k miles on it and has one year left on the CPO warranty (ends Dec of 09). I've also gotten the carfax on it and it looks fine, no damage, all regular maintenance, etc. He says it's in excellent condition and the pictures seem to confirm that. He also said trade in was $16k and high private party blue book was $18.5k. He was asking for $17.5k and said the lowest he could go was $17,200. Does $17,200 seem like a good/fair price? Or would it be reasonable for me to ask for a lesser price? I think I'll get the car regardless as long as it's in good condition and the records are clean, but just wanted to know if I should ask for more off. Thanks in advance.
