    Running C16

I have 10 gallons sitting in front of me. I wanted to run the K04 race file and advance timing 4 deg. Is this a good idea, could I go higher? Should I tweak anything else? Thanks

Run the normal race gas file, then log, then go from there.

well if you got it free then might as well try it... you wont see any gains over lets say 100 octane would make. but might as well throw it in.

    Re: Running C16

C16 is a massive waste for a k04 turbo. It is for making big power, and you can run alot more than 4 deg advance with it. And it is leaded FYI so if you have a cat dont run it.

    Re: Running C16

Yes, i'm aware of everything said above. I don't want to log right now, I just want to see what the max potential of this setup is. The C16 was purchased because it was the same price as a lesser grade of fuel. How much more than 4 degrees?

    Re: Running C16

Depends what software you are running since they all have different timing to start with, then it depends on your supporting hardware. No way to guess. You would need to add timing and log to see if there is timing pull.

    Re: Running C16

I know. I'm new to the logging, I started last week. I just thought maybe their was a more aggressive yet still safe setting I could just try for like 10 minutes. Software is APR and I have everything except W/M injection. (ER sport fm) I was reading a thread that said with C16 wm would have no affect. So... basically my car is at its peak (+/- 0-10 deg timing) and because its good gas i thought for sure I could get away with something.

    Re: Running C16

drive the car for a little with the fuel in it first before adding timing so the fuel is sure to get in to the lines and up to the fuel rail in place of the regular fuel.

    Re: Running C16

I feel a kaboom coming. C16 burns WAAAAYYYY slower than pump gas or any other race gas. I really dont think its going to even run right

    Re: Running C16

Ok, now I'm a little nervous. I didn't use it yet so everything is still preventable. Why do you say its going to burn slower? Does C16 equate to its acyclic alkane structure C16 H34, making its physical properties more similar to that of kerosene or diesel fuel? If not, its going to have a higher boiling point due to its increased surface area. Which is why I figured it would be able to suppress detonation as it will be running cooler. People have used it in motorbikes so how is that different? I have no clue about bikes. Please clarify. Thanks

    Re: Running C16

I've been searching for old threads and found this- "I drove my car there straight from work, added 2 gallons of C16 to what was in the tank (maybe a 50/50 mix) and set the timing." Thats verbatim from 400HPA4 now my question is, should I mix it with 93? 5 gal (93) and 5 gal (117) = 105 oct

    Re: Running C16

you dont even need to put 5 gallons of c16 in... just put like 4 and 2-3

    Re: Running C16

Just got back. Straight C16 advanced 5.25 deg and felt like it was slower than the regular 100 oct program. Took all the timing away and it felt faster than before. Added 3 deg total and dear God the car feels fast. I did a WOT 1-3 gear run and logging groups 3,10,11 showed 15-20 BTDC. Don't know if this is good or bad but the only thing that was bad, at 5700-6000 rpm there was a negative pull on the acceleration. I didn't want to push it any farther after that this happened 1 out of 3 times. Any thoughts?

    Re: Running C16

You need to log block 020 to see how much timing is being pulled.

BTW the more power you try to make with the K04 the sooner it is going to hit its peak in the rpms. So expect the power band to get smaller and fall off sooner in the rpms.

Thanks man. What a relief, I thought there was something wrong with my car. Decided to go back to oringinal settings and leave it alone. Good learning experience
