Upcoming 55K inspection - how much to pay?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I called a few dealerships in the L.A. area regarding my upcoming 55k inspection and got quite a few different answers. I have a 2004 A4, 4 cylinder, automatic (CPO if that makes any difference)

    1. $490 for inspection + $250 for CVT maintenance
    2. $450 for inspection (no mentioning about CVT)
    3. $800 for inspection (no mentioning about CVT)

I asked each one about what is covered during the 55k inspection and not one was able to answer this question.

So, what is a fair price to pay for this inspection? Will i receive a loaner car for the duration of the inspection (1 day)?

Also, any recommdations on dealerships in L.A.? I usually go to Keyes Audi in Van Nuys and they have been good so far.

    Thanks for any help!

just take the car to an outside reputable audi mechanic and it will be done for at least half of that price. ask around in the Regional Forums for info on a solid place to take your car. dealerships are usually less knowledgeable than a highly reputable euro repair shop. the 55K service isn't one of the major checkups so most of what they're doing is just visual, nothing complicated.

I don't have a CVT but I just went through this..... Dealership wanted $850 , I found a good shop nearby and had it for $280. Definately shop around. GL

I was thinking about avoiding dealerships for cost reason. On the other hand, i am not 100% sure if the warranty will stay intact if someone else but a dealership will work on the car.

Is there a site, where one can check for Audi authorized dealers?

Pretty sure as long as the shop is ASE certified you are ok warranty wise. Need to read your warranty documentation, but maintenance is maintenance. I got my CVT fluid changed for $260.

Sounds like somebody is trying to take your money. The 50k service is an oil/filter change, cabin and air filter change and a visual inspection of the car to make sure the brakes, transmission, CV joints, etc. are in proper working order.

You could do it yourself for under $100 in an hour.

Hmm, is this supposed to be a 50k or 55k interval check?

I'm talking about the 50k checkup. If that was already done, then all that needs to be done at 55k is an oil/filter change.

Not to thread just but - On the subject of DIY Oil changes....

How do you document the oil changes and at what intervals should engine sludge be an issue? I DIY every 5k but let an indy do the 10k interval. Was hoping to just DIY all oil changes.

Ok, i guess here is my issue. i am not doing any additional service other then the required Audi maintenance. I believe i was 5k late on the 40K, which brings my 50k to 55k.

So, the title of the post is wrong and should say 50k instead of 55k.

no, your right, 2004 maintenaince starts at 5,000 miles and every 10,000 miles after that (5000mi, 15000mi, 25000mi, etc ) and 2002's or 03' was startin at 5,000mi then 10,000mi then 20,000mi, blah blah

    ...i think

thats starting to get too complicated.

I will go with the cheapest quote by Keyes Van Nuys and see what i will have to pay.... than i am good for another 10k miles since i have never once done any extra oil change or anything else aside the regular maintenance.
