    Long-distance parts transportation woes

This weekend I will be doing some highway traveling to go pick up a recently purchased hood and fender. I planned on taking the avant (B5) to pick up the parts, but I think I may have ran into a snag.

I was gonna just fold the seats down and fit the fender and hood in the back, but after some measuring I'm not sure now how that will work out. So, my options are:

    1. Take my chances and see if it fits once I get there.
    2. Take necessary items to strap the hood to the roof and throw the fender in the back.
    3. Remove the old hood and install the new one and pay the seller to dispose of the old one.
    4. Take a truck and spend a couple more bucks on gas money.

What does everyone think I should do? Anyone successfully pull something off like this before?

Put on some roof racks, and wrap it and strap it.

You need to be careful when strapping down a hood, as it is big and the metal can buckle pretty easily and possibly it will develop a crease.

If it were me, and I had access to a truck, I'd take that. Better safe than stuck.

x2! I have strapped a hood to my MK3 when I had it and it was a nightmare.. and I only had to drive a few miles with it on the roof!
