ok i have an 99.5 Audi A4 1.8T AEB Engine, with a problem
it started off with low boost. normally i would spike at 17psi. out of the blue i was boosting 13psi... so i thought it was from when my battery died and i couldnt start my car... i have Vag-com so i did a throttle body adaptation, and there was no change.. then it got worse a few days later... when i was coming to a stop, my rpms would drop to 500 then lower and stall. so for me to get anywhere i had to go into neutral and keep the rpms above 1k.
i put a post up on a local forum, and sent some 1 a PM that has a built 1.8 GTI. he took a look, and said its not a vac/boost leak, its my coolant temp sensor.. we unplugged it and it idled fine.. when i got home, i unplugged it and took went for a short drive up my road and stopped easy and hard. both times the rpms would not drop below 1k... but with the sensor unplugged i wouldnt boost past 10psi. does anyone else have any ideas whats wrong? is it the coolant temp sensor? do i have a vac or boost leak? is it fuel related? or just something else... id like to get my car back to its full potential..... thanks...JC
