    K04's on tip-transmission?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Good morning fellow enthusiasts,

I did some searching before posting this thread, however I didn't locate the answer I'm looking for.

When I upgrade to K04's, will the tip-transmission hold under the new increased HP/TQ? I just recently replaced my torque-converter, and I'm hoping that when I upgrade to K04's that the increased power won't destroy the TC or transmission.

Furthermore, how about RS6 turbos? I'm assuming the transmission couldn't hold the power that these turbos produce.

    Please discuss.

    Thanks

    - Jared

    Re: K04's on tip-transmission?

The problem that tip owners discover is that the 01A transmission is not able to harness the power of a full Stage 3 setup. Many people take the tranny out and perform torque converter and valve body upgrades but, I have to admit, I hear FAR more horror stories than success stories from the people who are doing this.

I've seen Stage 3 S4 cars lay down only 300WHP with a tip tranny on the dyno. A manual tranny Stage 3 car will make 350WHP regularly with an off-the-shelf AWE or APR Stage 3 program.

As for RS6 turbos, I really don't suggest it. You talking not only more power than you'll lob at the 01A but, more money on turbos.

I'd say that a Stage 3- setup would be the limit for me if I had a tiptronic tranny in my car.

You'll have to get the Trans or TC built....check out the company called
"Level 10" they are trans specialist and can build a race trans or tc for anyone.....Real RS6 turbos are crazy expensive and fabrication is required....If you want a monster turbo upgrade go with GT28's!!! you'll eat everyone...

    Re: K04's on tip-transmission?

Get your transmission upgraded before going with bigger turbos. If you don't want to upgrade the entire transmission, at least do the valve body. We actually won't sell an RSK04 kit to a tip customer (A6, Allroad or S4) without an upgraded transmission of some sort.

Two companies commonly used are IPT, http://www.importperformancetrans.com/, and Level 10, http://www.levelten.com/index.html.
