how bad is AUDI going to F me??

when i bought my 03 a4 almost 2 yrs ago, it only had 1 key with it. i tried to get another one but the price (dont remember what it was back in 06) was way out of my range so i stuck w/ just one key. well i was riding my motorcycle last nite and the fuckin key separated from the lock/unlock remote part. so now i still can lock/unlock my car, but just cant start the damn thing. is it possible to get just another key and not the whole remote assembly and if it's possible does it have to be programmed along w/ being cut?? i tried to get a blank online a year or so ago but audi said they wouldnt cut it because "the metal in the key could be different and it could damage their machine" - translation, buy it here or go fuck u'rself... anyone got any ideas???

if you have the valet key, plastic keys, any of that stuff, the best thing to do it find another fob on Ebay and take it to a locksmith to cut it. Cost me $75. If you don't have any key pattern at all....you have to go to Audi and I'm pretty sure they won't release the pattern, they'll cut it for you, but you can't go anywhere else. I've heard keys from Audi have been upwards of $300

my brother had to get his TT key reprogrammed to start his car. the doors would unlock but he couldnt start it with the blank one he got cut. I know it cost him nearly $300 for the whole ordeal but that was just at the time audi was actually getting in trouble because of some sort of monopoly issues i think in that they were the only ones that would reprogram and would really jack up prices. I dont think its the case anymore. good luck regardless

well i just got off the phone w/ the audi parts guy and it sux but it could be worse... for just the uncut blade it's $60 and he said if i still have the part to lock/unlock the doors and just need the top half, that it wouldnt have to be programmed. but since i dont have any other cut key for the car (didnt even come w/ a valet or emergency key) has to be ordered from audi and will take 2-3 days and has to be paid for first... not the hit that i thought it was going to be, but now i'm stuck takin my dads trailblazer to work for the next 3 days which is averaging 18.8mpg as opposed to my baby's 31... 45miles one way, the gas is going to suck... wish we had nicer weather i'd take the bike... f'ing november weather... i guess u'll have this..

ok... so the guy i talked to was full of shit!! they ordered the top half of my switchblade key and cut it for free... the key itself cost me $60.. but it DID have to be programmed to start the car. the audi service guy said that if the one key was all i had that it would be a good idea to get a second key since it wouldnt cost any more to program or cut... so i bought a second key w/out remote for an additional $60 and the total to program the keys was a dollar or 2 under $50. but now i still had to have the car towed to audi 50 miles away. good thing i have AAA so the tow was free... all in all, about $170 after tax for 2 keys to start the car..

im in the same situation with 1 keyfob. my dealer told me 190 to program and cut for each key because my car has an immobilizer(05b6)

that sux!!! that's why i'm glad i still had the remote part of the switchblade.. i dont kno how much that woulda been but i'm still glad i didnt have to get it. the reg key was only $60 plus like $48 or so to program it... buying parts for my audi is the only time i wish it was a honda... there's 20 parts cars in junk yards just waiting.. never see an audi in a yard..
