i have a 98 b5 a4 with non bose and i want to upgrade my speakers. I am thinking of bypassing the rear speaker amp by sending the wires right from the kenwood headunit to the rear speaker. Do you think this is a good idea and will it also work up front?

That's how mine are hooked up. I didn't do it though, the previous owner did. It works just fine. I'm planning on upgrading the speakers soon so it should make it easier. The front speakers on my car are still hooked up the stock way though. Just the rears were re-wired.

Yes and Yes.

You really should upgrade the speakers if you want much better sound.

Then if you want to get the most out of the upgraded speakers you should amp them...

then if you want to have the best full range you should get a sub....
