    Re: 'Tis the season......

Speaking of inclement weather, can anyone shed some light on Michelin PS2s in the wet / rain.

I drove in somewhat wet weather (although not even raining, just still wet from the night) and felt a little (minor) give in the rear as I was braking + turning on a wide turn (in the road) approaching an intersection. [for LA folk, on roxbury --> coldwater in bev hills]

Could have been a fluke / my mind playing tricks with me, though.

Same, I have a max performance summer tire, and I feel a little loose in the rain. Its not the Quattro, its the tire.

It's actually a pic from last year near my home. Empty farm road that is just over 1/4 mile in length. Fun in summer, fun in winter. But, as winter is approaching, I thought would be appropriate to post. I actually got up to 80 mph on this run and the car was rock solid. Too scared to go faster. PS2s are probably the best extreme performance tire in the wet. Sounds like you hit some fresh moisture on pavement that hasn't seen rain/moisture in a while. Oil buildup and fresh moisture can make for a slippery surface until enough water/car tracks wash it off to the side.

Depends on the tire...some are excellent, like the PS2s. Others, like P-Zeros and Contis suck IMO.

PS2's hold up very well in the wet. No experience on snow for me.

braking while you were turning might have also broke the back end out, depending on how you took the corner

wasn't going that fast. as i said, approaching a stop/intersection to turn right. I think its just the road there is sloped that way and I wasnt slipping it was just the curvature of the road that made it feel that way. went through in the dry today and got a little feeling so whatever.

Also forgot to mention both times there was no TC intervention at all. similar feeling to lift-off oversteer, but not as severe and really brief.
