Your boost drop could be the transmission notifying of impending shift, and the stock mode responding with boost reduction. The other modes may respond less aggressively, giving more performance.
Spray starting fluid on the suspect leak area at idle. If the idle increases, then it is a vac leak. Of course, a hiss or other tell tale signs can give it away as well.
If you have not replaced your N75 and diverter valves, these could be suspect as well.
Oh, and for boost leaks- follow the link.
You are in NJ. There are a LOT of Audis in your general area. Try finding someone with a vag-com or ECU-X. You will want to do a few runs and compare actual boost vs requested. I would disregard any first gear #s, and also any disparities below 2000 RPM.
If you can actually do any gear, 2-5 from 3000 to 6000 at full throttle, and log the data for actual and requested, you may see spikes, or large disparities.
I haven't logged in a while, but from 3K up, my WOT runs between 5 and 20 millibar more actual boost than requested. This is very tight regulation. If I were getting 100mBar differences in either direction, I would start looking.
