More dyno runs and a video

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
We lost the VAG logs from the first session so why not do another session to see if the car performs the same or not.

The video of some of the pulls is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1wEXQWu9cU

Max power at 23.0psi was 320awhp/297lbft tq and comparing it to the data from the last session the car actually made 1.5% more power this time around.

The second thing that was confirmed is that the intercooler is working as expected. We did 4 pulls 3 minutes apart and the graphs match up nicely. Did one pull at 23psi and another pull 15 minutes later after cooling down the IC and intake manifold with cold towels.

Result? No noticeable change in top end power.

Now I just have to wait for the new file to arrive.

The 'nastiness' you are hearing is the wastegate dumping to atmosphere. It get a bit loud.

Next time we dyno the car with the TIP removed!!

Sounds awesome! You should make a street vid without all the resonant noise of the shop. When are you expecting the new file?

I have to send the data to Tapp and then it is up to his schedule to tweak the file and send it back out this way.

Just drove the car back home today after doing a stud conversion on all 4 hubs.

I'll post up some pics after I detail the car.

Re: More dyno runs and a video

yeah, getting rid of that last little restriction on the intake side of things (that is, before the intercooler) should make a pretty big difference. how's the no-VVT thing working for you so far? any issues with it?

Re: More dyno runs and a video

I currently have the VVT solenoid plugged in to stop a CEL from appearing.

Chris has already deleted that part of the code in the new file so I can get rid of the solenoid next.

I might try running a mushroom filter if there is a noticeable gain by getting rid of the TIP.

Well I have a 4" inlet on the 3076 and quite a bit of room around it so it should fit.

Can you send me size specs on the unit to double check?

    94octane again?

This is the first of many stages Winston is putting his car through with this software. Sit back and enjoy!

The head has been polished and everything replaced with SUpertech valves, springs and retainers. I also took out the VVT unit and replaced it with a non-VVT unit.

how hard was it to change to studs?
was curious about this as well.
It is super easy to change the studs. Just thread them in with some locktite.

In my case we put a tiny tack weld on the backside of the hub to prevent the stud from ever wiggling out. Since I track the car I was afraid that the temperatures could get hot enough to burn the loctite out. If I need to remove the stud we can just cut the tiny weld off.

Cool beans Winston. I'll watch the video tonight. I can't get to youtube from work.

    94octane again?
94 octane again. I just send the files to Chris Tapp for analysis and he'll send me out a new file soon.
