a writeup said 8mm, but i just used a 10mm one to do mine.
this is the set i used , bought it from my LPS $10 for the set of 4.

if you tried to use a torx and stripped a bolt, you are going to have a fun time fixing it.

    I think its a 10 however the replacement bolts were a 12.

edit: as for the drive shaft bolts an airgun is the way to go

Clean them out first, get all the grime gone. Then make sure the triple square is well seated before putting any torque to them.

I use a jack as a wedge if the car is in the air, wedge the jack under the wheel so when you put force in the direction to loosen the bolt out, it grabs the jack in and stops the axle from turning, they dont need too much force to pull out

i used a torx bit, made sure it was seated, and gave it a quick hard turn and it was out. I also used the torx when i reinstalled them.

Its 8mm on 2.8/ 1.8t axles. 10mm on S4s. Bolts are bigger on S4 axles.

Re: Anyone know the size of the triple square (12 point) axel bolts?

Some bolt sizes are different... either the M10 or M12 (M12 on my new bolts). I bought that set from o'reilly's for $5. The bit set I bought, I put a 13mm socket on the M10 bit and loosened the bolt while someone was holding the brake down. obviously, i screwed down the lug bolts before hand, otherwise, the axle will just spin. Same method to torque down the new bolts, but i had to use the M12.
