    hey guys,

i was wondering if there's anyone out there who can beef up my TIP tranny...perhaps to withstand some of the power generated by the VF SC kits.

has anyone had any experience with this or does anyone know if this type of mod is even possible?

    any help is always appreciated

    Re: beefing up tranny

At this time there is not much we can do. There is some stuff in the ECU that controls the trans Tq limitations and when some one is able to tune the TCU we are all set.

From what I found don't think you need to do anything to your trans out of the Gate. I found there are several cars with the same trans as us

ZF 6hp 19 That make WAY more power then us and they don't mess with the trans. If you do ANY thing have the trans rebuilt with EXTRA clutches put in to make the trans less loose. But unlike the old ZF 5hp transmitions the TCU for our trans is in the Trans.

There are GM guys that tried to get Valve body mods done to there 6hp all this did was waste money (in there words) and if you get your Tq converter set to more then 200rpm over stock the TCU will go into limp mode.

Most people try to sell us on the Valve body modification. But due to the fact that the TCU is on the Valve body and Each Valve body is calibrated to Each TCU. Modification of the Valve body is just going to cause a tug of war between the TCU and the Valve body. The TCU is going to try and fight the extra prussure the Valve body mod is giving it. You will still probably see harder shifts. But due to the fact that the TCU times the shifts threw the solenoids you are not going to see faster shifts. That is a programing thing.

IMHO if you are going to add real power. Wait till your trans goes out before you spend money you might never need to spend. If you want to really do something. Put Red line trans fluid in and change the filter.

Wow, thank you for that. I contacted level 10 already about this issue and they recommended all kinds of things. Which added up to some major cash!
