with my K&N panel filter i just took it out and sprayed it really good with my air compressor. it got all the dirt off and the more i sprayed it the more oil came out of it. so i kept going until it was just about dry

Re: How do you clean an Oiled Air Filter?

k&n sells a filter recharge kit. you can check amazon or ebay, or do a google search to find the best price. it will come with degreaser to clean, and oil.

basically, you take your filter off, spray the crap out of the filter with the degreaser, rinse off with water, and let it dry completely. i used a hair dryer to get most of it off, then it got really hot, so i let it sit for about 5 hours to dry. then, lightly oil the outside of the filter. when you have a nice, light even coat, blot dry with a clean towel.

just make sure you blot out the extra oil. your filter should be lightly oiled, not drenched. the reason is because dirt and small particles will stick to the oil. in turn, the particles stick to the filter, and will assist with filtering the air, making the holes in the filter smaller. but you don't want the filter to be so drenched with oil that it sucks into your intake tube, and get all over your MAF.

    ^ yea what he said

also agree with blotting out excess oil, if you dont it will just get sucked down into the intake and all over your maf and could cause problems.
