    car doesnt start..

    i have an issue with my 01 a4 1.8t . i had it sit for a few hrs and wen i went to go start it up it didnt start no cranking only heard one click and thats it. everything worked fine radio lights no dimming nothing after having key on for aabout 2 mins it started up again...then after i went over my friends house and was sitting for about 4 hrs it wouldnt start i had my friend jump me and started up. today moring i tried to start it but wouldnt work i tried jump starting but wouldnt work this time. i get 14 volts wen the car is running and wen its not running i get a lil past the 12 mark. could this be my battery ? thanks for any help guys.

    sounds like a short or fuse/relay.. Your battery connections good?

    It's not your battery if you getting 12 volts with car not on. I agree with dmott, check all your connections, something may be loose or corroded

    check all the connections to the plugs. take out all the plugs and sand all the carbon off. that trick always works on my dirtbike.

    If you pop off your fuse panel I believe it lists the # of the ignition, could be wrong but I'm pretty sure when I was checking a fuse the other day I seen ignition listed. It's also in the owners manual.

    with key on i get 11.1volts when i try to crank it i get 12volts could it be a alternator?

    If it was your altenator it would most likely start and then die about 10 minutes later when your car completely drains your battery 'cause it's not running thru the altenator anymore but directly from your battery.

    did you check your fuses and all your connections?

    seems like if i slam on my clutch pedal it will start up fine for a few tries then goes back to not starting till i slam on the clutch pedal again now im getting 12volts with key on and 14 while running. could i rule out ignition? now i think my clutch is about to be toast it grabs really low
