traction contol light stays on. help

my traction contol light came on a will not go off it has been lik ethis for months but i wanted to see if there is somethiing that someone knows that i should check that would cuase that to turn on.

VAG it. It could be something with your wheel speed sensors or MAF. (The MAF shares the same circuit with the ESP light in your dash, but if this is the case you would probably have a drivability issue as well)

Mine comes on due to a bad steering wheel angle sensor. It usually stays on for at least a week.

If the MAF is unplugged it will stay on, no way around it unless its written out of the software.

if ur maf is unplugged, such as mine is right now, you will probably have a cel along with the esp light staying on

i would say ether you MAF like the last 6 posts or that you have too much lube on your tires and they are slipping.

nope, not that i know of anyways. my file is written for MAF-less operation and my ESP light is always on. not like i really need the damn thing anyways, it's always just slowing me down.

my suggestion is you learn to live with it. how's the car running otherwise?

I spoke to Blake about this yesterday afternoon. We are hoping to get this cleared up next week but, with my experiences, only time will tell.

airbag light is on because he's got aftermarket front seats
ESP is on because MAF has been removed






Daniel. Is your ESP on because you turn traction control off whenever you start your car? If not, then there is a bigger problem.

Also, check all of your fuses, I had one of the engine management fuses go out in my car and the light stayed on as well until it was replaced. After repalcing the fuse ran the car for about 3-4 mins and it turned off.

Sorry to bump an old-ish thread, but I just had this happen to me yesterday, possibly a bit different. I was driving on snow/ice and the ESP light was blinking (tired slipping, as they occasionally do) but then the ESP light stayed illuminated mid-trip. I turned the car off, and when I started it again, the light was out. Went on my merry way and after a few minutes of sliding around, it stayed illuminated again. Stopped the car, let it idle for a while, still on. turned the car off, then back on, and no light. wtf?
