has anyone had any experience with them. i know they are illegal here in california but i doubt you'll get caught and if you do i think it just gets confiscated. anyways, i can think of alot of funny things to do with one. also, i cant think of anyplace to put the loudspeaker. our a4's have zero space in the hood and stuff. also, train horns are really funny but are at least 300 or 400 bucks and even bigger.

I had one in my wrx, it was just a cb radio($40) with a loud p.a. speaker that was about 5 bucks somewhere and i just mounted it on the otherside of the engine as the turbo, because I had the wire melt once. But they are cheap and effective

    Re: car PA system?

Anything you get from pep boys or autozone will not be loud enough for anything useful.

My friend put one of these in his truck cb/PA combo. The cb doesn't work anymore and the PA is super quiet.

    Re: car PA system?

    I have a PA system/Siren from Galls.com

It is so loud and the siren is authentic. I can pull anyone over and the PA is great to holler at some people! Here's a vid with only the siren being used.

Anymore questions, just let me know.

    Re: car PA system?

No, I cannot talk to anyone with a radio. It's strictly PA and Siren. It's mounted in my glove box.

For the perfect set up, I'd suggest getting this:
    http://galls.com/style.html?assort=g...og&style=SK125

And for the speaker, don't get the one I got. It took me 8 hours to find a spot to mount the speaker since it's so big. You can get a smaller one with the same watt output.

    Re: car PA system?

thats pretty cool! i could go without the siren though kind of sketchy for me. i was looking for more of an affordable radio (to talk to my buddies if they got the same thing for when we cruise around together), and hook the radio up to a pa. i guess 100watt speakers are what im looking for? and of course i would need the cb radio to have that wattage also? im looking to keep it under 150 or 100 bucks. thanks again

    I have a few questions.
Is that just for fun? Or are you a part time firefighter or something?
Couldn't you be arrested for impersonating a police officer?

    Regardless, looks fun as hell.

    Re: car PA system?

i had one from strauss auto which i picked up for $50. it had all the nursery rhymes and farm animals in my honda element. in the winter i would drive around playing mr. softee tunes ( ice cream truck music). i had 20% tint all around and 40% on the windshield. when i passed people on the highway, their faces were priceless! i used the rooster call when i dropped off my friends at their houses at 4am.... it was hilarious. i also had the pa installed with it, i upgraded the speaker tho because it was crap. i had a great time with the pa... GOOOD TIMES!!! :D

It's just for fun. But yeah, I got in trouble for using it on my friend haha. I tried pulling my friend over and out of nowhere a cop pulls up behind me and pulls me over. I got a $280 dollar ticket for an audible siren and some PA thing as well. They said I was lucky because they could have impounded my car.

    Re: car PA system?

I had one in my B5. Had police, ambulance, euro police, and a whole lot of animals. Picked it up at Cal Car Cover in the Chatsworth area.

I hid it underneath my glove box.
This thing kicked ass!! Pulled so many people over. Cut right through traffic.

When you see a hotty hit the horse.
    So Juvenile I was. Haha
When you see a whale hit the piggy.
Cat is fun too. people go nuts. What? ...Wtf is that a cat?..... One lady got out and looked underneath her car.

In the end I never got caught except by the school sheriff. He let me go though.(I was his neighbor)
Then I got a letter in the mail from the po pos. Well to the parents of... People had called me in three times saying that I was impersonating a police vehicle. Lets just say my Mom didn't think it was funny and it was removed and installed in my best freind's car.

    Re: car PA system?

Here's my set up on my old gti, haven't installed it on my a4 yet. I don't know where to place it in the engine, if you guys have them let me know where you mounted it.

It's basically, all the sirens a cop can do with a mic input for the pa. If anyone know where I can get the push button style mic with a mic input, let me know where I can get one. I used a mini mic for it before but it just looks funny with it. The speaker is 200w, and it's pretty damn loud.

This scares the shit out of people when I turn it on.

    Re: car PA system?

You can try mounting the speaker under your coolant. You're going to have to ziptie the shit out of it though.

    Re: car PA system?

It's real easy to mount a speaker in the empty GTI/GLI engine bay. My friend uses the PA from his Uniden CB, though we only use the CB's on road trips.
