    Just Bought A4 1.8TQM...chirping noise?

I've been searching audizine for the past 30-40mins trying to find an answer for my question but there really are no indepth answers of such.

I recently bought a 1997 Audi A4 1.8TQM with ALL paperwork from an Audi Dealership (from every single tire patch, to every single major thing)

Now what's really worrying right now is, the last timing belt job was performed at 97,456 miles on 12/19/2001 at Larson Audi of Tacoma. With a new waterpump/tensioner, etc.

Now the car has 166,640 miles on it and i can hear something beginning to chirp. The chirping sound increase with the RPM's and is consistent.

I know i'll definetly be getting a tbelt job done ASAP, but is this something that is common? the chirping noise, and is it related to the tbelt?

I know its not the axels for sure. Oh and can someone please link me a DIY Tbelt job? I am very handy with a wrench and have been modifying Honda's for a good 2-3 years, just never got into the euro world till now and im loving the AWD :]

Maybe your serpentine belt is slipping, put some belt dressing and see if it goes away.

would a slipping belt causing a chirping sound though?

I'm more accustomed to hearing slipping belts as a squealing sound more than a chirping.

depending on how your intake and exhaust is set up, you'll be able to hear the turbo chirping from the compressor blades slicing through the air, so it might not be anything to worry about

did not know that. all the car's i've been driving (honda scene) were all n/a builds (11:1 comp ratios and +) this is the first boosted vehicle i've owned. as for the intake and exhaust, etc. everything is bone stock. bought the vehicle at 166000 miles, one female owner, all receipts for all services (only allowed audi dealership to work on car) completely stock and unmodified. paid 5250 clean title
