The big brown stork brought me a bundle of joy (no 56k)

    Haha. Oh yes.

    Wonder what it could be?

    You're welcome baby.

    Ready to go in

Getting the pinch bolt out was probably the easiest part, it came right out

    High tech cinderblock jackstands

    And advanced workstand equipment

Couldn't have done it without my buddy here

I just think this is a cool picture for some reason

I like where this is going.

First corner done in like an hour and a half

Took a wild guess and left about 1 5/8" of thread showing.. pretty damn low

Other side done - this is about 24 3/4" ground to fender

    Rears were a lot easier

Finished up and on the ground.. about 5 and 1/2 hours into it

Finally my shameful wheel gap is fucking ancient history

Rides like a tank made of milk chocolate

There was some minor rubbing so i raised the front about 1/4"

She's sitting at 25" front and 25 1/4" in the back. I like a little bit of rake. Stay tuned for pictures that aren't as shitty. Thanks for looking.

Congrats, 1 for doing it wrong and 2 b/c you managed to get the pinch bolt out.

Looks good though, you're making me want a Santorin really bad.

They are the avant specific version of the H&R coilovers. I got them from purems.com for $1118 plus shipping and i got them in 3 days.

I followed the article on audidiy.com and it was actually a piece of cake for it being my first attempt at a suspension job ever. I was originally going to leave the upper control arms and mounting plate in, and just disconnect the shock from that but i didn't want to rip out those little plugs And i'm pretty damn sure i did it right but thanks

Re: The big brown stork brought me a bundle of joy (no 56k)

Should have just ripped out the plugs, much easyer, no need to mess with the control arms and your alignment shouldn't have realy gone out of spec either. My first suspension job took me 4 hours doing it that way and i had to take the shock assemblys apart to replace the springs and put everything back together. You got the job done though so thats all that matters. Looks good!

Very nice stance. And a wise move to buy new coilovers.....I've gotten lucky buying used, but its great to have that warranty in case something goes wrong. The install looks like it went well....might have to raise it a bit when the suspension settles, but good stuff man

    avants FTW!

If the pinch bolt comes out easily, then he did it the easiest way. When I do suspensions I always check if will pinch bolt will come off. It beats ripping out those glued in and painted over hole covers for the top two strut nuts.

Well, I'll have to leave it to personal preference then. I like to pull the bolt out from the inner of the front lower control arm and the plugs up top. That is going off doing it in a garage vs me doing it at work. At work I have a BA airhammer that hasn't let me down for getting out the pinch bolts.

I didn't mean to say you did it wrong, just that there is an easier way.

oh man it's a complete night and day difference. way less understeer, way less tire squeal, way less body roll. it's super firm but still really comfortable.

earlier today i went around a roundabout and it gave me goosebumps. that's how much better it is.

Well i'm not used to having to go so slow pulling into driveways and stuff so there is a little rubbing still. but all around on various road surfaces and conditions, they've been awesome so far and well worth the money.

I can take speed bumps pretty much like normal.. and over railroad crossings and abrupt bumps, it feels smooth and soft like my stock suspension. they are not bouncy at all - but they are very responsive to every detail on the pavement, without a hint of harshness. this is good because i really like that tactile input

so overall they are plush and luxurious while at the same time being very rigid and very sporty. if i grab my roof rails and rock it i can really feel the strength of the dampers, and in turns and lane changes it hardly rolls at all. i'm not plowing my nose through turns anymore - it really gave my heavy ass wagon way more balance and a hugely noticeable reduction in understeer

if you're thinking of getting h&r's, do it
