    Totaled 3.0...getting a 1.8T USP...?s...

So, a refrigerator in the middle of the highway at 10pm at night totaled my 2003 audi a4 3.0quattro 6spd. I was thinking about getting an 04 M3 or a 07 G35 sport sedan 6spd, but decided to not spend any extra $ and go with another audi. I'm picking up a 2004 A4 1.8T USP on Saturday. I had a couple of questions. It's completely stock and I was going to put my 19s that survived the accident on it, tint the windows, and then I wanted to CC the headlights, tint the tail lights (leaving the white part white). I also wanted to put exhaust on it and chip it. There's a GIAC installer close to me. Are there any problems with buying a used chip? whether it be GIAC or APR? Also, I wanted to get Remus exhaust. I had it on my 3.0, but had to remove the resonator to make it sound like I wanted it to. Anyone have Remus on their 1.8t? or have other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

umm, if i am not mistaken, a "chip" is actually a software flash to your ECU. I had GIAC on my 1.8 GTI, it was a little jerky. You might want to ask around about the different types of "chips", to find what fits your intrest most. ...... I am not sure if I would do the GIAC route, from what I have heard REVO might be a little smoother....

    Re: Totaled 3.0...getting a 1.8T USP...?s...

I've heard similiar stories about GIAC. I'm going Revo but just because I want to go BT eventually. Otherwise I'd go APR cause they have a Stage 1+. Revo doesn't. And yeah, it's a software flash and not an actual chip. The only way to buy a used one is to do an ECU swap and you have to get around the immobilizer to do it. I think it's been done before, but not by many.
As far as the exhaust, I don't know if it's the same for the 3.0 as it is for the 1.8. Maybe it is, but I know there's a difference between TIP and 6MT. Someone will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong though.

Congrats on the new purchase. Be sure to post up some pics.

Yeah, I forgot to say that. I was thinking that you already had the car.
    I'd get a 6MT with quattro, but I'm biased.

Yeah, its a 2004 A4 1.8T quattro 6speed USP. So APR over GIAC seems to be the consensus....

APR is fine for Stage 1 - the power is smooth and you get better gas mileage as a side benefit.

Yeah, I'd definately choose APR over GIAC. Revo if you're gonna go BT later. What color is it?

Go 1+, huge difference. Had GIAC / Forge / Genesis injectors - smooth and fun to drive.

The 2004 definitely takes a "flash" versus the "chip".
