    ASP Stage 3 Yes/no?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm planning on going with ASP's stage 3 and would like to know from the guys that are running this if you are satisfied. I like their set up and the price is ok. For a second i was gonna peace together a used stage 3 kit but decided against.

Please post pros and cons of this kit. The guys that are running other kits should bug in and tell me more or pull me to a better direction that i don't know of. Most kits dont come with inlets, hardware and other litle things and all that would be extra $$ on top of the stage 3. I'm also not sure on the clutch yet and i need something that can take abuse and be a good DD clutch.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Re: ASP Stage 3 Yes/no?

I searched the Stage 2: Kevlar clutch and it looks like a good choice but i'm not sure if it would take the abuse 5k drop. Stage 3 is probably to rough for a DD. The price is like Damn!!$700+

ASP with custom tune here...the car is awesome. I fully recommend it. Mine runs circles around many of the stage 3's around here and there are a lot of them locally. :-P

I use Southbend Stage 3 "OFE" clutch with resurfaced flywheel and OEM pressure plate. Its been taking my 5.5k drops for over 10k miles on my tweaked ASP Stage 3 no problem.

Had a Southbend stage 3 clutch on my A4 w/K04. 20k miles of hard launches and no probs. Great product.

    Re: ASP Stage 3 Yes/no?

So far there is no bad feedback about ASP and that's good. Southband sounds very good i'm gonna give them a call and see what they can put together for me.

They use RS4 pressure plate right? I heard of those failing quick any info on this? Would an OEM PP work better with southbend disc?
One more q. Where do i go about getting 10secs4 fueling? I tried searching but no luck.

you can find yourself an rs4 pp no need to get them from southbend but its all up to you. i never tried using the oem pp with an upgraded disc and dont think i would ever want to. umm email him i think its [email protected]

Nice man, how is it to drive? Is that tune good for regular street driving also or most power up top?

    Re: ASP Stage 3 Yes/no?

Thought about it some more and maybe i can peace together a cheaper stage 3.

    $2500 Turbos and inlet pipes
    $300 injectors
$0 Air box i can modify my stock one.
    $60 RS4 Accordian
    $250 85mm Hitachi MAF
    $60 Turbo hardware
$20 Fuel rail bolts and spacers
$800 Tuning maybe less depending on what i decide to go with

About $4200 so that will save me roughly $1000 and that can be used for the clutch and any extra litle things i will need.
Does this look good? I'm running out of money so i need to be careful.

That is what I am doing... only need the fuel rail hw and tune!!
But I am not sure which tune to use... It kind of is the most important "component" of them all.

I am using a Vast Stage 3 clutch in my DD avant. Handles the 5K clutch drops no problem, and it is not rough at all probably because the friction disc is a full face design (as opposed to an unforgiving 3 or 6 puck).

    Re: ASP Stage 3 Yes/no?

Umm, with out getting into to it too much. It has to do with the shop that worked on my car. Just to many little things that are not right and are affecting the other quality parts I have on my car from performing like they were ment to. But I will get it worked out either way. ;-)

I've tried the "homebrew" kit, but finally wised up and went with ASP. It's awesome and I can tell you when you have a true tuner (whose also a certified engineer-Mark from ASP), he can really dial in the car to perform as well as you want.

So how is the stage 3 tune from asp, vast, revo, ssp or marc to drive as a daily driver? Is the caracteristict on low rpm the same?

Where are you getting the turbos and inlets for $2500 if you don't mind me asking? Also the tune is something you probably want to decide before you buy all of your fueling components because different tuners work with some different hardware, even if you are getting a custom tune (ie. SSP tunes with a straight through MAF, not a tapered one like EPL's.) Another thing to consider if you're going with a custom tune is a wideband o2 sensor. Looks good though and good luck!

I dyno'd 380 awhp(~500 crank hp equiv since I'm a tip) on ASP's dyno and mine is a daily driver. The other guys I can't speak of.

i can only speak on VAST's behalf as thats what I've had and my car feels great. If you want to run an aggresive profiled tune you can tell them that, if you want a moderate tune, you can tell them that as well... One thing about VAST that say if you were comparing to "Marcs" tune is even on the most aggresive file Mike @ VAST still uses the stock N75 where as a lot of tuners use a MBC. Retaining the N75 keeps daily driving just as if the car was stock but when you step on it you sure know whats going on . MBCs in standalone create a very torquey ride and sometimes is quite annoying daily driving.. I had a MBC in standalone just testing it out while I waited for a new N75 one time. Wasn't for me...

your best choices out of the ones you've listed are VAST and SSP tuning. Greg can t000n for sure and he knows these cars like the back of his hand
