When life gives you a parking lot curb + a broken bumper,you turn it into a sweet mod

Background Info:

-So last night I parked in my lot and pulled up a tad too far over the curb, I heard a little scrap but it wasn't anything to be concerned about. When I got out of the car I noticed partial bumper to fender separation but again I didn't think it was anything to fuss about.

-Now when I went out to drive my gf home in the morning (10am) I finally see the damage in the daylight and the bumper has been cracked in multiple places and both sides are disconnect from the fender/fender liner.

-I am pretty pissed because the curb was rather low but I guess I just caught it too much. So now I'm getting a new bumper and have to get it shipped here, painted, and installed by 25th for Thanksgiving when I have a 4 hour drive. I am fine to drive for now though because it will hold on.

Poll:

I am choosing between three bumpers and this is my ranking of them as according to my current preference. My car is silver and I know it is gonna be tough to get a paint match but I have no choice.

1. OEM DTM S4 Bumper with the CF splitter:
PROS: OEM, perfect fitment, sweet splitter, I can get a good deal on it ($750 shipped for both)
CONS: no foglights, find a way to disable fogs and headlight washers without getting a CEL, no mesh grill-standard grille only

2. Eurogear Deval RS4 Replica Bumper:
PROS: Agressive, awesome look with mesh grille/mesh fogs, great price for what you get (approx. $600), not very popular which is always good
CONS: some have had fitment issues, it either looks great or screwed up/kinda random on which happens,

3. OEM S-line bumper:
PROS: OEM, cheapest ($500), perfect fitment, mesh grille
CONS: Very popular/common, not as aggressive in comparison to the others

I voted for the S4 DTM because I really like the OEM+ look.

The Deval RS4 replica is very"aggressive" with its curves and the side vents, and IMO only looks good if it's matched with the RS4 side and rear bodykit. Since you're only going to replace the front bumper (I assumed), I would say nay.

edit: i just saw your final comment there, if so, then go with the RS4 rep.

You have to remember that if you go RS4 or S-line you will need a new grill as well. which if you go rs4 grill it will add atleast $300 to the price. the DTM bumper uses the same grill as the non-sline. so think about that.

I voted for the S4 DTM b/c I think it will look the best of the three, however with those options, you cant go wrong with any of them. GL with the choice!

i was in the same boat and went with the stock s-line bumper. my main reasoning? when it comes time to sell the car, it will be alot easier to sell with a clean oem front end.

Well I am getting door blades and side skirts later on, but not anytime soon. I will probably get the dtm rear as well, but again no time soon.

I see your reasoning but I disagree, especially if I get the DTM s4 bumper, it would be fine. Plus I'm keeping the car for at least 3 more years so I don't give a hoot

I have the S4 DTM on my Ibis White Ti package and absolutely LOVE it! It fits the lines of the A4 nicely, and the car gets a lot of compliments(mainly due to the DTM). The only downside was giving up the fogs, though some have modified theirs to work. Good luck with your decision, you really can't go wrong, as all of your choices are sharp.

The only reason I gave the nod to the Deval RS4 bumper over the S4 DTM was due to the lack of fogs.

P.S. - If you are going for a certain look that you already have in your mind, then why would you do anything but the Deval?

Got into an accident a month ago and needed to replace my front bumper; I chose to go with the DTM. So, though a bit biased, I'd go with the DTM bumper. It's far more aggressive I think, but you do lose the foglights. By the way, if you have the monochrome on board computer thing, you shouldn't get a bulb out warning for the lack of fogs.

DTM vs. Deval is a tough call. I like the Deval because you keep the fogs, you can use the RS4 grille and you loose the ugly side reflectors. That said, OEM is always better.

Ok so I'm hearing great opinions all around but this really isn't helping lol. I love the s4 DTM but I don't want to not have fogs and headlight washers and then have two error codes. Anyway to solve this problem?

I don't have head light washers and I took off my fogs and I did not get any error codes. I do have the monochrome information display. If you have a colored one, then you will get error codes for the fogs.

I have the colored one and I have headlights washers. Because it got disconnected in the "accident" I am already getting a error for those. Then I will also get one for the fogs and I don't wanna do that.

...and maybe you could work something out with the S6 leds in lou of ur fogs on the s-line?

i just got my S4 DTM front bumper/side skirts...thinking about S6 leds...but waiting til after ski season b4 install.

If you go DTM, and it seems like you want to go that route, you can delete the reflectors since you have to paint the bumper anyway. I just had this done on my car and it looks great. As for the fogs, you might be able to VAG it or use resistors to fool the system into thinking you still have them. I would contact an electrical shop local to me and ask.

Haha it isn't official yet, the DTM is more expensive but if I get the rs4 bumper I'll get the DTM rear anyway since it looks odd without it. I'm thinking I might be able to recode via VAG-COM to delete the fogs and then it won't be an issue. Another problem I'm finding is I snapped some important parts that connect the bumper to the car and I don't know how to replace those aka find new hardware since its some tiny parts without numbers....I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to see what they say.
