Re: factory sport weight?, weight removal?

Not sure on their weight, I think about ~35-40lbs. Unless you want to remove the spare tire or seats there really isn't much you can do, except replace the wheels, tires and trunk and hood with CF ones.

Battery. You can shave 20lbs by replacing the OE battery with an aftermarket one.

This is my specialty. i am in the process of striping an evo. we are entering it i the stock appearance class for the track but what we find to be big weight savers maybe to extreme so you will need to tell us how far you are willing to go as far as saving weight. i am also stripping my Audi but not to the point of know return.

Yes, you can remove alot of things for the track, but I wouldn't drive it on the street that way. It just depends on what you are willing to give and hiw far you want to go.

The 17" wheels are 26lbs each, and tire specs can be looked up on TireRack.com

The stock battery is 50~ lbs, and with Odyssey dry-cell batteries, you can save anywhere from 20 to 35 lbs.

Re: factory sport weight?, weight removal?

look, i dont mean to be a joy kill her but our cars are good for stripping becuase you can buy them cheap these days. i can buy an A4 for 11,000 where as a evo could coast 23,000 and up, used. so i would personaly pick our car to stip becuase it coast half the price. Also when you start taking weight out, weather it is a luxury car or not a seat is a seat and a luxury seat is most likely going to weight more. and i would not really call our cars luxury cars. An A6 A8 are luxury cars. not A4's.

A4s are in the same class as IS300, acura TSX and TL, and other four door mid to low price sedans.

anyway i say if you want to take weight out. do it becuase it does make a big diffrence. they have formulated that every 100 pounds is good for taking 1/10th of your quatermile time. and just buy taking out the seats and spear tire and some other small things will take your car from being a 14.1 car to a 13.8/13.9 car. one other big saving thing is the exhaust. buy removing the exhaust after the down pipe saves you about 50 pounds and reduces back persure with will make you car performe better becuase we all know back pressure is bad for turbo cars.

Re: factory sport weight?, weight removal?

I stripped out a couple cars before. so here are a couple tips.
    easy stuff,
    Spare tire
    Jack, Lug Wrench
    Carpet in trunk
    Trunk Liner
    Light weight battery
    Light weight wheels
    Light Weight Brakes
    half tank of Gas
    low washer fluid

that should be all of your first stages
    after that
remove insulation under carpet and replace carpet
    seats
    Sound system
    power window motors
    AC System
    LW Flywheel/Clutch
    Glove box
    Air Bags
Sunroof replaced with a welded in cover

see it all depends on how far you want to go
jet jockey has done a extreme amount of weight reduction and kept his car balanced in the process, most of the weight that you ll remove is after the drive train and results in a forward weight redistribution. so if you still want to do it keep your interior looking nice, and do the easy stuff you can replace when you sell the car.
