Exclamation Help Now Pleasee!! Car Torn Apart Problemsss!!!!!!!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I don't think i have ever had a problem like this working on a car in my life..

I went to go do a nice easy quick TRE job. Just like the one i did last month on my buddys 99. WRONG!

I have been working on the TRE's since 5. I think they are seized on there, I cant twist the TRE off the bolt that is used for the toe. Ive tried vice gripping the actual TRE and well, the bushing inside there went. Put lots of leverage on there the TRE would actually just spin(it would spin and nothing else would move--Not the rod its connected to)

Next i moved the first bolt all the way up, try to twist that while the back bolt is still held. Nope cant twist the TRE off.

Someone help, there has to be something i forgot to do like i did last month. I cant get the end off. It feels like it is just seized inside the toe bolt and i cannot twist it. On my buddys 99 i just twisted it with my hand and it came off, on my car i cannot do anything not with vice grips, leverage nothing is working.

PLEASE TELL ME I FORGOT TO DO SOMETHING!!!!!

I am going to be outside fighting my POS car, if somone actually knows what i'm doing call please

    Stefan.

BTW liquid wrench doesn't help, i think i inhaled more than most people use to take something off.

Im not understanding all of that post... If its the outer tie rod end, get some heat on it, put it thru the knuckle, put the nut on the end, and get a wrench and use your MUSCLES to get it off...

Re: Help Now Pleasee!! Car Torn Apart Problemsss!!!!!!!!!

You need two vice grips, use one to stabilize the inner... thing. Use the other to crank down on the TRE. Get a friend if needed, but that's really the only way to do it.

maybe hire one of these guys?

or oxygen and acetylene, that you wont have to worry about it again.

But try what toyota said, map gas, then heat until cherry. Htat has never let me down.

    TIP:
You can always count on the blue wrench.

the most painless way is to buy an inner joint and replace the whole assembly instead of the outter tie rod end. this is why the dealerships only sell them together.

I heated up the End till it poped and the internals just blew apart...Liquid wrenched it all night, nothing. I am telling you it is frozen in there.

If someone lives in PA Near KOP you can come down and take a look.

The TOE in bolt wont even move, the other front lock bolt is all the way at the front..But it just wont twist out of that sucker.

Yeah you need inners. They are seized together and you will never get them to come apart. Buy inners and take the boots of the rack and install them.

Re: Help Now Pleasee!! Car Torn Apart Problemsss!!!!!!!!!

ecs. another option is to take the whole inner and outer assembly to a machine shop and have them drill it and and pull out the threads. I did this and it was about $30.

Re: Help Now Pleasee!! Car Torn Apart Problemsss!!!!!!!!!

i have the same problem as we speak too. its on my passanger side and i even cut off the "L" and i am going to get some massive heat on it. One person told me to weld a nut onto the end and then use an air wrench to muscle it off. I even got a 3 foot vice grips and it still wont turn

i used PB blaster, a torch, 3 foot long grips, even got a pipe on the end of the handle to try and get more leverage...

what did you decide to do? replace the entire thing? inners and outters?

sounds good, let me know how it goes, i have 3 tests i have to study for this week and wont be able to work on it till next weekend but i plan on doing that route as well.

I tried to look at how to do the inners and it honestly looks like a huuuge PITA so im trying to do anything so i dont have to do the Inners.

Believe it or not, instead of working with your head in the wheelwell trying to get that apart, it's much easier to remove the entire assembly. Put it in your vice where you can deal with it properly.

Try these guys for parts, super fast service and really fair shipping costs compared to the place mentioned above.
