Anyone do HPDE or track days with their B6 or B7?

I haven't seen any threads about B6+ S4's seeing roadcourse duty. I'm considering an S4, but I'd like a car that can be a bit of fun on a race track a couple times a year. I'd probably upgrade the brakes and bars . . . what have other people done to make their car's more track friendly?

Out of curiosity, are there any BBK's available for the rear of our cars?

search, search, search. additionally, bbks for the rear are unnecessary.

a lot of us do, in fact i have a lapping day at quattrofest tomorrow

its definetly a fun car to track, especially when its raining (like its doing today and will be doing tomorrow at the track)

for a serious track car though, not so much...theres really no way around the weight of the car and how its distributed...brake brake brake understeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer

you'll burn through pads, rotors and tires driving 4,000 lbs of audi around

but if its only for the occasional track day its a fun car

ive gone to a few this year... mit holds up well against most cars... The key is to get all of your braking done before the corner and gas all the way out... let it push out if you have the room and always late apex... I will do one more year in this car, and then i may move on to a dedicated track car... 951 maybe...

I agree with Staples, I track a fully prepared M3, and race a Spec Miata. The S4 is one of my all time favorite cars on the street(in winter she is hands down winner!), however, on the track, the 4000 lbs really is a drawback. For your first one or two times on the track, the S4 will be just ok, after that... you need something better suited to track.

check my photo gallery. it's a fun car to track. more fun then my b5 or b6 a4's that's for sure. it's far from an ideal track vehicle seeing as it is a big fat pig, but fun nonetheless.

the avant makes it more fun. hardly a typical track vehicle. always kind of surprises people

This is far from my first time on track . . . I have racing and HDPE experience is many different cars from a shifter kart to a Ford GT to a Formula Ford.

Most of the cars I've had on track have either been purpose built track cars or at least true sports cars . . . I've never been in a big sedan OR an AWD car on track. I just sold my weekend toy, and I'm looking for a daily driver that will be at least reasonably fun a couple times a year between other events.

if that's your experience, then you'll probably find it to be a big fat pig. it's fun, but if you're used to race cars, it might not be too satisfying

You might want to look into an Evo X, especially since there is 0% financing for 60 months available right now. Drop a few grand in mods and you have a beast on the track and street that's a pretty good year round daily. The interior is just ok and the rides a little stiff, other than that it's a great car that doesn't feel its weight. The S4 on the other hand is heavy and feels that way when pushed.

Unfortunately, the 5-speed Evo X (Gsr) has too short a gearing for the highway and a horrendously cheap interior. The MR has a softer suspension and the SST tranny has been known to overheat after hot lapping for 10-15 mins. Unless your thing is small Japanese cars or cars for the die-hard track enthusiast, the Evo will not work for you.

Jahan, for someone with your experience, without major modification, the S4 will be frustrating for you on the track. Awesome daily driver and touring machine that is also tons of fun on your favorite winding roads, but not so awesome on the track for the experienced driver.
