    Question T3/T4 turbo setup???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey everyone, I've become rather curious as to swapping to a T3/T4 setup but am having a hard time finding things through the search. Can any pass on information, links, or advice to me?

I'm only looking to make 250-300 whp (fwd). As for the exact turbo, I'm unsure because my buddy is going to give me his turbo whenver he can gine it. He doesn't remember the size or trim so that is unclear to me right now, but I want to explore my options.

t3/t04b which is basically the size of a GT28rs.

You will need to buy a t3 flange manifold and 3" down pipe. Hardest part is going to be finding a tuner that will sell you a tune for a T3/T04 for your 018q ecu.

yep unfortunately i'm tip... I have found someone to do the tune, thats basically the other half reason of why I now want to try this.

Could I just lower/limit the boost so that I stay to a resonable level of power for my fwd tip ()? I realize how dumb that question is... 3" dp is no problem, i got the intercooler, custom intake in the workings, GIAC tip chip is obviously in the plan, and have a RS4 paddle shifting steering wheel ()

    Re: T3/T4 turbo setup???

im not an audi guy, im a VW guy but i recently bought a T3/T4 50 trim .48A/R turbo kit for my jetta and im shooting for 340-350whp ish which has been done easily with unitronic software. I have seen dyno's for my turbo ranging from 300whp at 16psi, 344whp @ 22psi all the way up to 438whp @ 29psi on water/meth. For your power goals, an eliminator would work, but if you do decide to go with the t3/t4 that your friend has, limit the boost and it should be ok. The only issue u might not like is the spool is a little bit late.

    What he said.

FWD's have been making really nice power on the 50 trim. On a 50 trim you can keep it below 20psi and make enough power to have a lot of fun.

Personally I had a 57 trim (picked up for uber cheap) that I was going to use, until my clutch died and I had to sell it to pay for a new clutch.

Unitronic software will probably be the best bet. Depending on your location a full custom tune may be ideal.

When does full boost come on between the two turbos?

I'm kind of interested in this turbo myself, it seems to be the best of both worlds between a cheap k04 and a higher revving gt28rs. Seems applicable for a daily driver/commuter car project.

The GT28RS will have full spool between 3500 and 3800 i believe and the 50trim will be closer to 4000-4200 assuming you get the .48A/R housing and not the .63A/R

Dont want to go with the .48 a/r because all it will do is choke really quick.
