    how can i get the sound of my turbos spooling? is there something i need to replace or take off? i tried replacing the airbox but it was still silent some help is greatly appreciated



    oh and i forgot all my radio says is audi symphony is it an amplified radio or not? because my driver side speaker is blown and the guys at the local audio shop are tellin me it might be better to go to the dealer and have them get a speaker due to the "amplified setup" it might not work well with aftermarket speakers

    Buy another car becasue you should not hear the turbos in an Audi

    Edit: Your looking for a car with BOV (Blow off valves). Audi runs a system the recirculates the air and its called a DV (Diverter valve) they are not loud and should not be. You loose alot of performance with a BOV setup.

    AWE S-flo increases sound of intake, can hear when spooling , but even stock you should be able to hear somewhat (turn down your radio, 2slow )

    and yes, they are "amplified" speakers, matched-up for Symphony's output

    I have an S-Flo and 710's. I dont hear much of a spooling sound and I certainly do not hear any more with the S-FLo installed

    WOW thats growley! Love it. Still more exhause sound than spool but yeah gut your DP and get a free flow exhaust.

    I thought his question was more geared toward the DV's themselves.

    As weird as it sounds I must agree! From being in both a A6 2.7T and a b5 s4 (I No they have the same engine!) My b6 a4 1.8t the turbo spool is more noticeable. Any chance it has to do with where the turbo(s) are located? Im no mech so I am not exactly sure where they are located I just so there a tucked in the back of the engine on the A6 and a b**ch to replace

    Twinturbo cars do not make a loud spooling noise, BUT! single turbo cars do, for example.

    and since audi uses no BOV's , your not going to hear it much in a 2.7T, on another note, free flow cats and downpipes with exhaust will make it sound a bit louder, but not much, in the 2.7T you get alot of engine noise, and thats my 2 cents.

    FrankA6 where your post go hahah? I just had a thought I think there is like a thicker "sound wall" in between the engine and the cabin itself in the A6... making it more luxurious by not having the engine sound come into the cabin. and the a4 being a little smaller I think that the "wall" is thinner therefore we can hear the turbo spool easier... Just a thought.

    I suggest you go for the 1.8T if you want louder Turbo sound and I recalled my previous B6 1.8T with Stage 2 Revoed + special source was much louder than my 2.7T!! However, I love the 2.7 with much faster accelaration without hearing the turbo is spinning hard!! It is an age issue, when you getting older, you just want a car running like a beast without any sound passing someone on the highway!! Do you have to notice other road users in advance with the sound of a tiger??

    no no no i know the DV needs to be there and i am not a fan of BOV anyways yeah it sounds cool but it serves no purpose. i know the 2.7t is MAF tuned so leaving the air to blow off into the atmosphere it would fook my shiz up. i was just asking because im kinda new the the 2.7 but not new in any way to forced induction. but yeah i was just curious. but onto my other question. so would using aftermarket speaker fook up my sound in the car? or should i just replace the entire thing?

    stated earlier - your audio shop is correct about "amplified speakers" and problem with aftermarket speaker, so unless you're interested in bigger project.... (ebay? Shogan? stealership?)

    It was open pipes, but even after i put full exhaust system i can hear my turbo spool, For the OP , like it was stated before get the race downpipes with no cats.

    you should be able to hear it spoolin under WOT, at least with a chip you will for sure

    speaker - ebay, shogan, stealership; there is a site that reaches out to dozens of used car parts distributers (can't remember, but it was recently posted -- Google will find it)
