    A4 bites it

So last weekend I was cruising down a back road with a bunch of buddies, came around a sharp corner and hit a patch of black ice in the road causing the rear end to come out on me, I played the back and forth game trying to correct it then finally when the tires bit it spun me into a 360' and i tagged the guard rail pretty good. Definately sucked looking at the car all smashed up but luckily we ended up ok with the exception my buddy didn't have his seat belt on and he ended up hitting his head on the windshield but somehow he just got a few cuts out of it no concusion or anything like that. I ended up getting the audi emblem branded into my forearm from the air bag going off.

I ended up going out this week and picked up another a4, I found a black 97 A4 1.8T quattro 5spd paid 4300$ for it, I'm saving the red one for a parts/donor car if anything goes wrong in the future. Here's a few pics of the aftermath.

messed mine up similar to that last saturday... my back end was messed up aswell. waiting for the god damn insurance to cut me a cheque. shitty thing was that i had just finished tinting it, doing a wheel bearing, vacuum lines, and 3 days of detailing... oh well, what can you do, as long as nobody was seriously injured... BTW, i didnt have a scratch, bruise or anything, kind of wierd :P

    Re: A4 bites it

I got the spiderweb effect on my car from the passenger side airbag deploying, so it's probably that. I hope at least. Nice job getting another Audi to quickly replace. Makes me wish I saved up money for when I had my accident.

And I want an Audi Emblem on my arm! I just got burned fingers! haha.

    Glad your okay.

    Re: A4 bites it

Yeah the spider crack on the windshield is from my buddy's head, somehow he managed to get over the top of the air bag. He just got a few slight cuts on the top of his head. Definately lucky. We were doing about 40 when we slid out. The brand mark is scaring right now, who know's if it'll stay but it's kinda funny having the audi symbol on my arm lol.

If i had to guess the impact popped the hood open, knowing he was going to have to trailer the car I guess he elected to yank the hood (otherwise wind would open hood while driving). Probably could have tied it shut.

The hood actually came completely off from the impact, it snapped the brackets clean off.

Yeah I was debating wether or not I was going to part it out or not. I'm swapping a few things out of it and putting them in my new a4 but will probably part out the rest.

    Re: A4 bites it

Swapped out most of the parts and stripped alot out of my old a4 now..
I took all the leather seats out, instrument cluster, key lock cylinder and door locks, door panels, window assy's w/motors, seat belts, interior trim peices, heater controls, arm rest, and a bunch of other misc parts for now. When i get back home over thanksgiving i'm going to pull the motor and start stripping the rest of it down.

Here's a pic of the new a4, I am def liking the black instead of red.

Overconfidence? You can't bend the laws of physics in a quattro, or B5?

I wan't there, but I've done that jog, and it is always driver induced, regardless of the circumstance. "Sharp curve", "cruising", "black ice"- none of those by themselves cause a fail. But added together, the event was an accident waiting to happen.
    Glad you are OK!

Sorry about your loss. How is your rear bumper? I have a 97 Laser Red, and the rear bumper is scratched up. I would love to trade with some cash for a very clean one. Interested?
I am in NY, where's the car?

    Thanks, Ken
