Can anyone in the Southern Massachusetts/Providence RI area suggest a good shop, beside the dealer, to do a timing belt service on my '04 1.8T Quattro. And if you had yours done there what was the approximate cost.

    thanks

    just a quick note.

TB service on 1.8T engine usually take less than 6 hours of labour.

base on regular indenpendent shop's $70/hr rate,
labour should not be over $420.

My local indenpendent shop do 1.8T for $250 labour only and he did a lot of 1.8Ts.
He is going to do TB on my AVK-3.0 on sunday for $300.

    lol.

some US ppl got their 1.8T done in local indenpendent shop for around $350 labour, too.

the TB job in 1.8T is easy and pretty straighforward.

stealership usually charge 5-6 hours of labour.

Audi Sewickley, PA charge 5 hours of labour ($620).

Oh I know... I charge 350 for B6 1.8T's and 300 for B5 1.8T's... But most independent shops will charge at least 500 labor, and many of the 350 shops are not legit. Some are, but you need to know who you are dealing with...
