How big of tire can i go on Stockies...

Im lookin at gettin some winter tires and im either gonna stick with stock size or go 225 55 r15... will that fit on stockies?

I believe you want a skinnier tire in winter conditions. Cuts through the snow better than a wider one.

205's will be a better winter tire than a 225 tire. I've run both as a winter tire and the 205's slid/broke away much smoother while playing in the snow. 225's seem to float on top of the snow more and I had more understeer. 205's will be more predictable/stable when you are out having fun in the snow.

Im running 225 50 16's on my sport 16's and 205 60 15's on my 15's, they fit the wheel much better than a 225. I would just go 205 60 15's.

Yeah i figured id need a thinner tire...as apose to a wide one. My rims are only 15's im goin to use the stockies for winter and buy something in the spring :)

You guys aren't even talking about the right sizes here. 225/50-16 or 205/55-16 are the correct sizes for a 16" wheel. The 205 will be much better in slush and wet conditions. The 225 will be better at slow speeds, on dry pavement, and in deep snow.

Go with the narrow tire if you can. I ran a 245/40-17 snow tire last year and they were sketchy when crossing the slush median that forms between lanes on the freeway. Everywhere else they were just great though.

No point in buying tires for 15" stockers when 16" stockers aren't much more.
