VR GT-R Gets Geared Up For SEMA 2008

SEMA is the same time every year. We all know it, but some how, some way, everything is last minute. But we all love pressure, so we push through to get it done. Our friends over at Capital Forged Wheels wanted to have a feature car at the show that would stand out. This year we expect there to be alot of GT-R's, EVO's, and STI's. For you American buffs, probably Chargers and Challengers will round out the usual suspects. So we went to work.

You can view all the installation pictures here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/ga...ages.php?c=362

First for the GT-R we needed to give it a good stance. 2 things that are always terrible on any stock car are the wheels and ride height. We hooked up with Eibach to install one of the first sets of Eibach lowering springs. These springs lower the front 0.8inches and the rear 0.5inches for a good clean stance. The installation on the fronts was very easy and the rears took some more time as we had to pull out the rear seats to access the strut bolts. Here are some installation pictures.

Next our friends at Cobb Tuning hooked us up with the new AccessPort for the GT-R. This ECU flasher comes with 2 maps and takes literally 5 minutes with a plug and play device to the OBDII port. We did a before and after dyno which showed a gain of 30 horsepower and 30ft/lbs of torque! Our car runs on 91 octane. The car comes stock with 480 to the crank. Our car ended up with 462 AWHP on our Mustang Dyno which reads very low. With a 25% drivetrain loss, that is 577 HP to the crank!

Getting back to our main vehicle sponsor, Capital Forged, they hooked us up with some 20x9.5 and 20x10.5 wheels and our friends at Pirelli Tires got us these 255/35/20 and 275/30/20 PZero Tires to run. Our goal is to paint the car flat red with black accents so we had the wheels done in this color theme. The 3pc wheel features a 4inch rear lip an a 2inch front lip. The lips are flat black and so are the insides of the spokes. The face of the spokes are flat red. The wheels turned out well and will be very different once the body is updated.

Lastly before we wrap the car in our Japanese WWII Fighter Jet theme, we added probably the hottest exhaust we have ever seen. Meisterschaft full Titanium Exhaust system with Stainless steel mid pipes. The rear mufflers weighs only 7lbs!!! Beautiful sectional welding, burnt edge tips, and flex joints for a proper fit. The exhaust added a great muscle tone to the car. Stay tuned as we will be doing an after dyno once we are back from SEMA.

We will have 1 more update on the car before it leaves with the new look. Keep up to date on our Project GT-R by visiting our project car section here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/project-gt-r/
