Looking to buy a used 05 a8

From what I've read, I should be looking for late model year 05's. Is that correct, they have less problems? Also do I need to get the timing belt replaced once I find a car? How reliable are they nowadays?

Good choice! Timing only needs to be done around 75Kish or so. Before purchasing the car, I suggest taking it to an Audi specialist to have the car checked out - It'll cost you about $150 but highly worth it. Cheap insurance!!

$26k minimum if you're looking to get from a dealership on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...=p4506.c0.m245 or maximum of $35k for one with 50k miles... if you're looking for a W12 or S8, that's a different story, but for your basic 4.2L, the range is about $25-35k.

If reliability or warranty is a concern, I'd definately look at a CPO A8.....

CPO's usually go for another 3k on top of the price mentioned so far?

$3K sounds about right - maybe a little more depending on the dealer. It's ALL negotiable!! Remember we're in a huge recession right now so there's a LOT of deals to me made. Be patient when working with the dealer on a CPO, don't let them know you're too interested and DO NOT fall in love with the car. As soon as feelings are involved you're done! ;)
