    Dice IPOD Integration Kit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am thinking about getting this for the wife for christmas, I see you have the option of hooking up through the satellite radio, since she isn't using that today. If I have it hooked up through here, will she be able to make use of her steering wheel controls to control the IPOD??

She has a 2007 A3, with the built in six disc changer ... I'll be getting her a 4th gen Nano too ...

    Thanks!

    Re: Dice IPOD Integration Kit

Go through DICE directly and make sure you verify which headunit you have. For example, my 08 A3 has a stock Dbl DIN Concert II headunit which is not compatible with the SAT pass-thru on the DICE so it had to be connected with the CD changer cable. Last I spoke with Adam at DICE they where working on an upgrade but I have not heard anything on it yet. The installation was easy though. I actually just posted some photos of mine if you want to see how it went.

You dont need to go to DICE directly, just contact me. I just installed it in my 2007 A3. Great little unit and works awesome. I posted up some pics on the install. We keep them instock and have an Audizine special. View the pics here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/pr...tml#post212742

    Re: Dice IPOD Integration Kit

Ive been meaning to change my ''stock'' audi ipod adapter because this unit does not display the title/album/etc- only track number, only up to 99, and only play 6 playlist- it's great that the steering wheel control works, but otherwise, i want a more feature.
Will the one shown in this post work with my 07 A3, single-din Concert w/ single CD slot?
I also want to be able to add aux-in so i can hook up my att 8525 (so i can listen to AOL radio via 3G connection) or hook up my HP Travel Companion GPS or my old trusty Zen using 3.5mm plug?

If so an order maybe in place by next week before thanksgiving holiday at the latest.

tiptronic, What model year are you? You'll get the same out of the DICE until they upgrade their unit for the Audi's. Right now they only have ID3 pass through for VW headunits. I'm still waiting to hear when this will be available for mine.

Hi- I have a 2007 Premium pkg, single-din Concert with CD slot. The dealer already had the low-featured ipod adapter installed when i picked it up.

    Will this work?

    Re: Dice IPOD Integration Kit

Drew and Erick, neither of your single DIN single CD Concert II headunits have any pre-wiring to the glove box correct?

I believe none of the '07s do. So I will need the same one as you guys if that's the case, it's the one that plugs directly into the back of your head unit. I PM'd vividracing, waiting for reply

    Re: Dice IPOD Integration Kit

wifey_a3, post a photo of the back cable side of your headunit and I can tell you which DICE cable you need.

The I-Audi-R kit is the correct one if your going to replace the disc changer option (white connector cable). It allows you to toggle between the in-dash CD and the DICE by toggling the CD button.

Yes it has Aux-In as well as the iPod connector and will charge your iPod. As for iPhone/Touch connection I don't know if it has a different connector for that, but I didn't think so. I'm using an iPod 5.5G in my car.

Routing, there is a pass through hole from the radio cage into the glove box. If you don't have the changer installed you can still pop through the hole. Your other option is to route the cable either into you arm rest or the small power port cubby under the arm rest (which is what I did). In either case you'll need an extension cable which you can order online.

I ran both the iPod cable and a line for the aux-in into the cubby under the arm rest and it works great. There's just enough room to snake the wires, just takes some time and patience.

Photos of my install are referenced at the top of this thread.

Correct. No wiring. I researched this a while back with Enfig. There is a kit for us.

thanks! I currently have the white ipod adapter that came from Audi. So i guess with the i-audi-r kit- will simply replace where the current one is plugged into? It is currently routed thru the glove box, and yes i can switch between the cd slot or ipod via 'CD' buton. So the I-Audi-R has better control feature in addition to added aux-in plug? Does it do text on the radio screen?

    Re: Dice IPOD Integration Kit

tiptronic, sorry for the delayed response. I actually went off-line for the holiday... what a concept.

No you're not going to get ID3 information on the screen. That option is not available for Audi's at this time. I've been hounding DICE about when they are going to update the units to support our headunits. Still no word.

But yeah so long as you have the Concert II Dbl DIN headunit like mine than the I-Audi-R kit is what you need. When you do the install you'll remove the large clamp retainer and just pull out the existing white connector then plug it all back in.

For the ground lead I put a spade connector on and just attached it to an exterior screw on the headunit. It's clean that way. Only other tweak I made was to wrap my wires in mesh to protect them when I snaked them behind the radio cage. Worked well.
