I built one in my last car (MKIV GTI) and I am starting to get an itch to do it in the S4. I have most of my old hardware so it should not cost must to get everything back together.
I've only been able to find someone with a B5 that had an install done so I am just wondering if anyone here has done it. Just curious to see the wiring, layout etc...

This is my old setup: Vid1 Vid2

Definitely cool. I'm guess you don't have RNS-E? You can get a lot of functionality with a PC.

Did you DIY the previous install?

    Dude thats effin sick!

I wanted to do that too. what all is needed?!

this is my a4 set up but if easy enough, i just might pull the deck and put in my s4. Im currently working on mounting a wireless cam in the rear headrest to monitor my son when he's in recaro car seat.

Im sport'n this deck, kenwood kvt 617
and i must say it's the only deck i could find that really matches the oem lights. at night it almost looks stock.

can you help me with this...

i have an extra lap top too... could i use that?!

    lemme know.
    thanks

No, I don't have the nav unit. I would go that route but I can't bring myself to spend that much money. With the pc I can so all that plus whatever else I can think of for fraction of the cost.
There is quite a few things you would need depending on what you want to do. Visit mp3car.com and read up for couple of months to get yourself familiar with that the project should be and what's needed. One thing you have to remember is that you can't rush this.
Install part is not that hard if you plan everything first.

Yes, that was a DIY project. Money-wise I believe the cost was way less then $1000 and that includes an amp and new speakers for the entire car.
Laptops are super easy to do especially if your manufacturer sells 12V power brick (don't use inverters). If that head unit had VGA/DVI and USB input you could use it. You'd need USB for touchscreen control unless you rig something up, like a remote touchpad.
