I realize the turbos are small however IMO peak power is delieverd very close to the ideal rpm. A general rule of thumb is to have peak power 10% before redline. Assuming you were running to redline it appears it's at 6800 rpm. So, "ideally" you'd make peak power at 6,120 rpm, only slighlty higher than the current 5,750 rpm. I personally wouldn't want to go much larger with the turbos unless you can safely increase the rev limiter. I would imagine your cam driven high pressure fuel pump would be your limitation there.
BTW, what problems are people having with the pumps? Are they not large enough? Do they fail? Are they harming the camshafts and/or followers? I'm just curious.
It's certainly going to be interesting to see the progression tuners make with this engine.
An intersting fact I just discovered is the weights of all the cars with this engine. Everything listed below is with a manual transmission. I'm shocked how the 535i stacks up in the group!
335i 2dr - 3,571lbs
335i 4dr - 3,593lbs
335xi 2dr - 3,759lbs
335xi 4dr - 3,814lbs
335i 2dr convertible - 3,946lbs
535i - 3,660lbs
