    LEXUS UNVEILS SEMA LINEUP
BUT KEEPS ONE CAR (MOSTLY) A SECRET
    October 29, 2008

Lexus will once again make a big splash at the SEMA Show, as they unveil five modified IS-F vehicles, one factory tuned IS350, a mean looking LX570 and top-secret GS460 that has been modified by Five Axis.

Five Axis will also be on hand with the car that stole last year’s show, a matte-black IS-F that now makes massive amounts of power thanks to a bored and stroked 5.8-liter engine. The only information Lexus has revealed on the Five Axis GS is that it will be a custom widebody with 20-inch wheels, a lowered suspension and a big brake upgrade.

As for the other IS-F projects, the models of particular note are the turbocharged Fox Marketing IS-F and the motorworldhype.com car that features a currently unofficial line of products from the carbon fiber experts at Vorsteiner.

Lexus also plans to show the first version of the F-Sport IS350, a vehicle tuned using the company’s in-house line of F-Sport performance products, which will include an aero kit, upgraded 19-inch wheels, Bilstein shocks, sway bars, a big brake upgrade and performance modifications such as a sport air filter and a high flow exhaust.

Re: Official Lexus cars of SEMA

the white one is okay, but it looks unfinished. it looks like something that 90% of the white ISX50 owners on the streets today already have. definitely not something that i'd show off at SEMA. they should have taken the extra time to throw in some seats, roll cage, and i hope to god there's something beefier under the hood.

the orange one flat out looks hideous, and stock. this is SEMA, why the hell are they showing off cars that look stock?

the five axis IS-F looks much better than the stock one. still a little over the top, but it's SEMA, and i think it looks much better than the stock IS-F. supposedly this is going to be a mass produced body kit. :

I actually like the fact that Lexus is getting into the aftermarket OEM stuff hardcore, although, I have to say when you had an L-Tuned Lexus back four or five years ago, it really was something special. They were very rare and all OEM modified.

I was at Sewell Lexus in Dallas about two weeks ago and that's where I first saw what they were doing. At that particular dealer it was only the four of the IS models that were modified. They had a pretty sick murdered-out one with BBS on it. Apparently they are BBS made exclusively for Lexus, but BBS branded sporting BBS center caps. This is an across the board move by Lexus too as each and every car/SUV in their model line can be optioned out off the lot and much of what is on the lot at the larger dealers already has accessories and their price breakdowns on the windshield of the car. I found this out when visiting Park Place Lexus in Plano later on that day.

I, personally, dig what they're doing. The Lexus IS, in particular, is a pretty lack luster car (much like the A4) until you start modding it. I prefer to subtle modified look, which is probably why I dig the packaged IS models I saw and some of this SEMA stuff. Some of the SEMA stuff is a little out of control-JDM for me (especially that silver one, yuck).

Whore would be too harsh of a word, but besides the defunct NSX, I don't see any decent sport cars coming from Japan. C'mon, the ISF doesn't even has a manual transmission option. I'd be ok if it was marketed as a luxury car, but it's not.

And obviously, like dougyfresh would say " This is an Audi forum"

^^ ok, you got me there, I admit it. I hope it comes with a stick shift though *grin*.

Still, I have no respect for the Lexus. I hope you got my point.

First of all, the IS-F is marketed as a Sports SEDAN, so your argument there is pointless. Second, I'm not going to waste my time posting them, but go look up the specs and performance on the IS-F vs. the M3, RS4, & C 63 AMG and tell me it's not competitive. Hell, MB didn't make AMG cars with a manual in the States until the w203 C 55...so what's your point? Third, "This is an Audi Forum" is the crappiest brand-whore cop-out I hear on every forum. If you can't come up with anything better against Lexus than "It's still a Toyota", go find a different thread to sound like an uninformed moron in.
