Starting issue

Last night I was driving my GF's '07 B7 and we went into a store and when we came out and I tried to start the car, I got nothing. The dome lights worked and the clock/date were illuminated on the dash, but turning the key to ignition changed nothing. The steering wheel was straight, not locked. I unlocked the doors and got out of the car, locked them, unlocked them again, and tried starting it and nothing. Couldn't get the radio to turn on, seat belt chime, nothing.

Then my GF grabbed the steering wheel and rotated it slightly side to side and turned the ignition key and it started! WTF, anyone else have the same problem? Trying to decide if it warrants an extra trip to the stealer. Its under warranty.

It might not have felt locked but it most likely was. My wheels still moves a bit when locked.

But when I pulled into the parking space the front wheels were straight, and the steering wheel was straight. When I turned the key in the ignition, it turned all the way to the start position, it didn't stop part-way because the steering wheel was locked. And when she grabbed the wheel it didn't unlock with a jerk or a pop sound, it freely moved side to side. Confused.
