So my air bag light came on outta nowhere...

while I was driving , and I have no idea why. I'm thinking it might be just a wiring problem that triggered it, but IDK. SHould I take it in to the dealer? I don't have enough knowledge on cars to do any sort of troubleshooting. ANy ideas? thanks!

got the same problem on my A4 but i vag'd it and it went away but came back a week later... also, this just recently happend on my s4 too. but goes away. lemme know if you find anything on this.

scan for codes. i had the same issue and it was my passenger side airbag connector. it would say n200 intermittent blah blah blah. there's a TSB on it. if your car is under warranty take it to the dealer and they will change the wiring harness or something shit like that

mine came on when i cut the wire to the sensor in the bumper..... go figure......

My airbag light just appeared last week too.
I was on the brakes kinda hard while on an off ramp exiting the highway.
I heard a little click/pop and the damn light went on.

Could it be a loose sensor?

Mine comes up once in a while, sometimes stays for a couple of weeks. Dont know what cuases it.

mine just came on this morning - was looking for some help and saw this post...
I haven't pulled the rear seat, but there might be a main ground under the back seat... I know a friend had similar issues with a Corrado (windows/airbag/etc.) and it ended up being a main ground issue.

Another thing that I was curious about which might point to bad ground... How many of you have experienced periodic turning off of the Hvac fan? I know every once in a while it does this in our car... So I am thinking it is in more then one location.

Funny how my GTI which has 100K on her has never had ANY of these problems...

every German car ive owned has had electrical demons in it, my air bag light comes on every now and then for no reason but usually shuts off in 10 minuets, sometimes when i try and change the temp really fast like in the cold mornings the whole climate control shuts off for a second.
still not as bad as this one girls jetta i knew in high school that would unlock the doors and roll down the windows if she left it for to long, it got lonely

If your air bag light is on bring it to dealer. There is TSB for it, it's cause by high resistance on wiring which they have to modify the connector.

mine came on about a month and a half ago as well for no reason I just ignore it it doesn't bother me and i'm pretty sure it's expensive to turn off if I go to the dealer so for all of us we no warranty I guess we will just have to learn to live with it :)

How is it covered by warranty for those who are past their warranty?? im just curious because ive been driving with my air bag light for months now... My damn car calls out my front right air bag sensor..but that didnt fix it...So i know its gotta be wiring.... I would love for the dealer to fix it free of charge...
